Dress | Shoes | Sunglasses | Lipsense

Kiyonna and I collaborated on this post. Lets talk about the most surprising dress ever. As a blogger, I am always trying to challenge myself I reach for the pieces that no one else is talking about, or the colors that might seem “too loud” or “not for the plus size girl”. I feel that it is my duty to push the limits and try pieces that will expand my ability to express myself through clothing. Lets dig into a review of this tie dye dress!

This dress is by Kiyonna, and is aptly named the “Draped in Class” dress, the silhouette is rocking and is specifically cut to flatter the curvy figure.

The Fit

I am wearing a 1 in this dress, its really a perfect fit. Under the draped top there is a built in tank that is supposed to help with coverage, but not be seen. I had read some reviews about this dress before ordering, and the little under tank was the topic of a couple reviews. I felt that the tank was supposed to help cover and keep your top under control but not be seen. I would order your usual size in this dress.

The Pattern

On kiyonna.com the dress appears to be a black/grey and white tie dye print. In reality the color is much more dark blue and white, don’t call me crazy but this dress made me feel stormy. I don’t own many tie dye pieces, after wearing this piece I find myself shopping for more!

Where to Wear

Where are my boho curvy babes at? This dress would be BEYOND perfect for any dressier event you are attending. It is well made and a classy silhouette. The pattern is bohemian and free spirited in an elevated way. Do you have a wedding to attend this summer or fall? This dress is a great way to dress up, and still show off your boho spirit.

Where to Buy

This dress is available on kiyonna.com, Kiyonna often offers sales, or free shipping so keep your eye on the website.

Top | Pants | Shoes

What is it that they say about taking fashion risks? If you don’t try it you will never know if you like it. I think thats it, and it couldn’t be more true with these statement pants. I don’t usually post workwear pieces, because I live a very casual life. I don’t get dressed up for work and there is no dress code at my job. But when I was first introduced to the Astra Signature line (designed and created by Crystal Coons from the vlog Sometimes Glam) I knew that I had to have these pants in my life. One of my goals as a blogger is to bring pieces to my readers in plus sizes that usually aren’t available. Like my white lace skirt with Society Plus, I am always looking for pieces that exist in the straight size world but don’t in the plus size world. These pants fit that description. 🙂

Pant Details

These are the “Annie” pants(fitting right LOL), they are a dark navy and feature a tapered leg and a paper bag waistline with a belt. The fabric is a stretch Cotton/Nylon blend that is very soft and easy to wear and has a slight sheen to it. I am wearing a size 14, they are meant to fit loose around the hips and thighs. I originally ordered a size 16, and had to exchange for a smaller size.If I were you, I would size down.

How to Style

I opted to style these pants with a pair of summer sandals(that are not really work appropriate LOL) and a white blouse. I wanted to keep it simple so that the waistline detail could really shine, I struggled to pair a jacket with these pants because the waistline brings so much drama. If you are a person that prefers to have your shoulders covered(or your office requires it) I would style these pants with a top like this, or this. And with shoes like this. 🙂

For more of a dressy casual, fashion forward look, that isn’t about work. I would love to style these pants with a white ribbed tank, and sky high heels. Wearing a fitted top is really going to highlight the unique waistline, and in my case my waist is the smallest part of my figure, so a fitted top will really show that off. I can see myself wearing these on a dinner out with my girlfriends.

Where to buy?

Astra Signature is available on Amazon, if you have a Prime membership you can have these pieces in two days! I order everything on Amazon, from Cat food to Chic pants I use my Prime membership often. Make sure you follow Astra on your social channels, they often release coupon codes through Instagram that can save you a bundle when you order.

Lipsense Review

Lipsense Color | Dress | Shoes | Bag

It has been to long since I have posted a beauty review. Today I am so excited to share a product that is revolutionizing the beauty industry, have you heard of Lipsense? Its a long lasting lip stain/lipstick that has some serious staying power.  A friend of mine recently started selling Lipsense and sent me some products to review.

Before we get started with all of that, lets get to know this product a little better. Lipsense is…

Gluten Free

Vegan

Wax Free

Smudge Proof

Kiss Proof

Waterproof

Not Tested on Animals

Lasts 4-18 hours

I received the starter kit from Amy, this retails for 55 dollars. In this kit you receive one color(of your choice) a gloss(to seal the color) and a remover(you need this believe me).

The first day I wore Lipsense I applied it at 11am, I followed the directions explicitly and found that the product stayed on my lips perfectly for 4 hours, in that time I had lunch, drank water and a diet coke. I read that the more you wear Lipsense the longer it will last on your lips, I know weird, its something about buildup from other lip products. I have found this to be true! I have worn my Lipsense 5 more times since and now it will stay for a solid 8-10 hours.

When I first applied the product it stung a little bit, this has also faded as I have worn the product more and more. I have found that YOU MUST HAVE A STEADY HAND WHEN APPLYING THIS STUFF. Don’t try and put it on while driving(ask me how I know lol), don’t put it on in a hurry. One miss swipe and you have a lipstick that WONT COME OFF on your skin and not your lips.

Luckily that is where the Oopsy remover comes in, you can “edit” your progress with the remover, cleaning up your lines around the lip( or your skin lol).

For my first experience with the product I went with a bold red called Fly Girl. I love having this color for nights out, and blog shoots. Its a little too bright red for everyday around the house or office. I would apply the product in the morning go shoot a look, and then forget I was wearing it lol. I found myself passing a mirror in the middle of the day, and being surprised that I had lipstick on, LOL.

I am looking forward to investing in some softer colors that will work for everyday.

Full Figured Fashion Week Outfit Roundup

What I wore to Full Figured Fashion Week Events

Hi lovelies! I am formatting this post a little different than my usual posts. I wanted to share the FFFWeek events that Liz(withwonderandwhimsy.com) and I chose to attend and what I wore to each event. If you are thinking of attending next year, I want to give a little bit of advice. When picking your outfits for each event just do you. Now that I am home I can say that I probably over thought it. Next time I attend, I will just do me and dress in pieces that make me feel my most confident and comfortable.

FFFWeek Kick Off Event

Dress | Shoes | Bag | Sunglasses

For the first event of the week, I chose to go with a flowy maxi from ASOS. I love the unique color combo for summer, and the pleated skirt. The kickoff event was held at a loft in SoHo in this sweet neighborhood lined with Italian restaurants and pretty store fronts. We had small bites and wine at the event, and got to meet up with other bloggers and influencers.

After the event Liz and I headed across the street to this TINY Italian place for some authentic Italian food. Don’t ask me the name of the place because I honestly have no idea. LOL

Fit For Me Influencer Event

Skirt | Top(Similar) | Bag | Shoes | Earrings

I received an invitation to the Fit For Me influencer event, and I STRUGGLED to pick an outfit. At the last minute I made a switch to my Society Plus Midington skirt, with a a lace crop top. This event was really fun, they had makeup touch ups, a runway event, and cocktails. Everyone was dressed in their signature style, and I was having my “Carrie Bradshaw” moment(full skirt, fancy bag, sky high heels).

Afterwards a bunch of us bloggers went for dinner, it was so fun to sit with 7 other women and just talk about the industry, our blogs, and our businesses. I felt like a “Real blogger” during dinner, this just fuels my fire to continue my work towards full time self employment.

Curves At Sea All White CruiseDress | Shoes | Bag

I have a full recap of my experiences at the White Cruise, you can find that here.

Would I attend Full Figured Fashion Week again?

This year, Liz and I chose to attend the first half of the event. We had never attended before and didn’t know that the last half of the event is really where its at for bloggers and influencers. I would attend again, but for the last half of the event. Probably from Wednesday – Saturday. I am hoping to attend the Curvy Conference in NYC, and the upcoming Chicago Curvy Girl Conference!

I also have an outfit roundup up that is strictly my “off the clock” pieces that I wore touring around town, and to non FFFWeek events. That can be found here.
