Today on the blog I am sharing two fabulous spring dresses from Avenue! I am loving all the trends that are coming out, and I don’t know about you but this curvy babe is ready to ditch the leggings and get into some dresses. BUT there is one big problem, its still cold AF here in the Mitten state. Being the type of girl that loves a style challenge, I decided to style two spring dresses that you can wear N O W!
I wanted to highlight different ways to add layers and warmth to a warm weather dress. First up would be this beyond polka dot A-line dress. I love black and white, and can be often found in these two colors. BUT I rarely rock the polka dot, but on this particular garment the pattern was just right, I am 5′ 6″ and this dress fell above the knee in that perfect spot where its not too short but not matronly. I added my trusty leather jacket(I picked this up last season at Nordstrom) and my favorite leopard clutch(a shopbop buy). This fun polka dot dress gets a chic styling, with black sunglasses and black heels. I would rock this look out for date night any day of the week! The flirty ruffle hem adds some dimension and a little extra swing when I sashay down the street LOL.
Ummmm…..Hi have you seen this next dress! This black and white striped find is SO fun and fresh for Spring! To keep this look suitable for colder weather I added some OTK boots! I would love to add a black duster vest to this as well for a warm look that still shows off the fun sleeve! When I look at this piece I think of Alice in Wonderland, is that crazy?
This stretch sheath(with a ruffle hem) dress is great for now because it has 3/4 length sleeves and a modest neck and hemline(hello keeping the heat in!). But in spring, style this same dress with a red heel and a light jacket, you are ready to go to work or out on the town!
STYLE TIP – I styled this look with a red earring to draw out the red flowers in the pattern, this is a simple and efficient trick that really ties any look together! Just pick a small color in the pattern, and accessorize with it.
Raise your hand if you don’t “Love” tights or hosiery? *Anne raises her hand* hahaha, I am not big on tights, so I reach for OTK boots as an edgier full coverage option. I have found that by just adding an OTK boot you are instantly chic and put together. Add in the ruffle hemline of this dress and you have a recipe for a chic and sassy transitional outfit.
