Remember this picture?? 🙂
When Liz and I were in NYC this past June we toured the Avenue headquarters, there we were able to get a sneak peak at what Ave was planning for fall. Thats when I found this beauty! I have been patiently waiting for this dress to get in at Avenue and it finally haaasssss!! You know me, I am a sucker for a little black dress and while that is easy and fun it can get a little mundane. For that reason I have been trying to work more patterned pieces into my wardrobe, this dress is great for that, it definitely gives off that dark vibe that I love, but is also fun for fall and on trend with the sleeve detail.
Why this dress has all the ingredients for success this fall
Statement sleeves- this fall statement sleeves are SOOOO INNN, this dress is 3/4 sleeve with flared lace detail.
Dark Florals – the black base of this print lets this dress be great for September and for November, more about dark florals HERE
The Silhouette – this piece features a fitted bodice and a breezy rayon blend skirt, what I love about this silhouette is the ease of wear, no additional restricting undergarments needed.
With the above the knee hemline and the fun print, I am going to give this dress the weekend seal of approval. Perfect for an Autumn day bopping around town.
Style Tip
When wearing a busy print keep accessories simple and minimal. Always think about what part of your look you want to highlight, then accessorize with that in mind. Example- I wanted to highlight the fun print and lace sleeve of this dress, so I left my bracelets at home for the day. I don’t have bracelets fighting with the lace(getting caught in the delicate fabric) and I paired some simple black booties with the look so that the fun pattern can really shine through.
Other ways to style
As the weather continues to cool down, I would love to style this dress with a black duster vest, tights, and some boho chic booties. With the free spririt vibe this piece gives off, I would stray away from a structured riding boot.
How would you style this dress? Would you take it a little more structured or let your bohemian flag fly like I did?
