Dress | Shoes | Bag | Earrings

I partnered with Kiyonna on this wrap dress review! I feel like I am sharing black dresses on Curls and Contours all. the. time. BUT! This dress is different than my usual black dress. This one has beautiful details and added ruffles to bring a unique twist to a timeless shape.

The Details…

This Kiyonna dress, comes in four different colors(two of which are patterns) and in my experience this means a couple of things. That this is a style that is here to stay with Kiyonna, and that this dress is popular enough that they offer it in a variety of options. Which I really like. To me this means that Kiyonna, has heard from their customers and has done the work to make sure this is a style that is perfect for plus size women.

Barcelona Wrap Dress

The Barcelona Wrap Dress is a polyester/spandex blend, which translates to a weighted, giving fabric with a bit of stretch. The Barcelona wrap is an A-line true wrap dress, which is great for fitting purposes the ruffles along the neckline trail down the front of the garment and wrap under the bust. The dress is fitted with princess seems, and a cold shoulder detail. It falls well below the knee and can be worn with a cami underneath for a modest look.

Size Details

I am wearing my usual size 1, and it is a great fit! I have found that with Kiyonna the dresses run true to size.  Be aware of the ruffles when you are getting dressed, some of them have the tendency to fold under and not show especially around the shoulders.

How to Style

I chose to style the Barcelona wrap with lace up black sandals, red earrings, and red lips! I love the way these classic colors combine to make a bold statement. Lately I have been in a bold earring mood, and I love the way these red tassle earrings pop. I feel like I am always carrying my leopard clutch, its a great neutral and with the Barcelona wrap it adds some additional texture.

I can see myself wearing this dress to date night, a wedding or even a cocktail party depending on how you style it with accessories!

Liz Louize Store Tour

Liz Louize Store Tour. A new plus size boutique in Royal Oak Michigan. This post takes you into the newest addition to Royal Oak.

I collaborated on this post with Liz Louize. Today, is a great day to be a plus size babe in Michigan. Because today, a new boutique has opened in Royal Oak JUST FOR PLUS SIZE BABES!! Boom. I am going to be sharing a “Liz Louize store tour” on Curls and Contours with you! We will be taking a look inside Liz Louize and I will be featuring some of my favorite pieces from the store!

Liz Louize Store Tour. A new plus size boutique in Royal Oak Michigan. This post takes you into the newest addition to Royal Oak.When I first entered this boutique, my eyes were immediately drawn to the FANTASTIC wallpaper that decorates the back wall of the store. On the wall there was fun art, and uniques cases with shoes and accessories. From there I really started to take a look around, and notice other subtle pieces of the store. Fun music playing in the background, a light sweet scent that wasn’t overpowering but was just “there.” As a plus size woman, I felt good, honestly it was one of those “These are my people” moments, I found myself wandering around the store touching things on each rack and thinking “This is for me, this will fit me.” To me the true test of a boutique is how the customer interprets the store within the first minute of being there. Is she going to walk in and go “Yep, I can see myself finding something here.” Or is she going to walk in, feel intimidated and overwhelmed. The Liz Louize crew set out to make every woman that enters the store feel at home, a very fabulous, pink, girly home. But at home. 🙂

Ok plus size babes, you know how when you go into a regular size boutique and you make a beeline for the accessories because you know that while the stuff is cute it will never fit. As I walked around and put my hands on each piece that the Liz Louize crew had hand picked for their store I was overwhelmed with this sense of freedom. I didn’t have to just look at the accessories, I could try things on and pick stuff out. I could try everything on if I wanted. And then girls, thats exactly what I did. I tried on EVERYTHING. I picked something from each rack, which let me tell you is ALOT! I would love to tell you that this was purely for journalistic purposes but thats NOT true lol. It was pure girly giddy excitement.

The store has so much inventory, there is something for everyone. As most of you know I am a shopper, I like shopping online, in department stores, in boutiques, at the mall, at the outlets. I love to shop. And it always surprises me when I walk into a store that has like 4 items to sell. Where is the variety? Where is the inventory? Especially plus size boutiques, or boutiques that carry both plus and regular sizes. Usually the plus section consists of 3 stretchy wrap dresses in 3 different shades of black. Its clear that the Liz Louize crew set out to defy those “standards.” Because this pretty little boutique had so many different options.

Do you need a dress for an upcoming vacation? What about jeans for fall? Do you need dress pants for work? OR a skirt for an upcoming wedding? Liz Louize has it. THEY HAVE IT. I even tried on a romper.

Ok, I know I am gushing.

Ok lets talk fitting room. It was basically a party. Liz(withwonderandwhimsy.com) and I were visiting the store together, and while we were there. There were other plus size babes shopping too! We all ended up in the fitting room together(not the same room LOL). It was so fun! Here is how it went; put something on, step out into the fitting room sitting area and have a chat about the fit, the color, where you would wear this or that piece. Talk about a confidence booster. Each woman was supportive, the staff was there to assist with size or different color options. It was a clothes party and everyone was a model. 🙂

Liz Louize is owned by the babes that own the plus size bridal boutique Bombshell Bridal, they have the experience and expertise on how to create a fantastic in store experience for each customer. Tucked into the fitting room area of the store, there are shape wear options and nighttime options. Literally NOTHING was left out, when they were stocking the store.

Now you are probably thinking. “Cool Anne, I am so glad you are a psycho about this store, but how can I go?”

Dress(similar) | Shoes | Bag

I am so excited to share a Yours Clothing Dress Review with you today!

I have blogged about LOTS of different types of wrap dresses on Curls and Contours. But I have never shared a wrap mini. I am pretty open about not being a shorts person, I don’t like shorts and its NOT because I don’t like my legs. I actually do like my legs, I show them off in skinny jeans, skirts and dresses all the time. While shorts are not my thing, I do wish that I could tap into the shorter length that shorts wearing girls get. So when I first saw thing dress on yoursclothing.com I knew it would be a great fit for me.

Where To Buy

What I was the most excited about was the length and style of this dress. The tigers are just a bonus, :). This dress is by Limited Collection and is from Yours Clothing, a UK based brand that I share on the blog regularly. It is 100% Polyester, which means that its not hot and doesn’t wrinkle easily. Its perfect for a summer night out, I paired it with some strappy sandals and my favorite clutch. The perfect mix of sassy and sexy.

The Print

My blogger bestie Liz (from the blog With Wonder and Whimsy) is all about finding whimsy and romance in the everyday. And you know me, I am all about luxe basics, the patterns I can usually be found in are camo, stripes, and leopard. A cherry blossom and tiger printed mini dress isn’t usually something I would grab. But I was inspired to reach for something fun and in my own way whimsical. Life isn’t so serious, and I really love how fun this dress is, and how fun and light hearted it made me feel!

The Fit

When I order from the UK I get a size up, this method works great, here is my logic. If the piece is coming all the way across the ocean, I want to guarantee it will go on my body. If it runs small, then I will have a perfect fit. If it runs true to size, then it will fit but be a bit loose and I can have it tailored for the perfect fit. This dress was a little big, but not so big that I couldn’t pull it off. I am wearing a size 16.

I am 5′ 6″ and this dress hits above my knee, because the silhouette is a true wrap you close and tie it under your bust. When we shot this look it was a little breezy, and I felt like the front was going to open and show a little too much skin. But it was all good, nothing was showing and honestly thats the nature of a wrap piece.

Something Else…

Right now the dress is out of stock. I couldn’t get the dress on the blog quick enough before it sold out. I know, boooooo. BUT there is another dress by Limited Collection with….get this. TIGER EMBROIDERY!!! The dress has the same cut, the same fabric and EMBROIDERY. Mic drop.

Dress | Shoes | Sunglasses | Lipsense

Kiyonna and I collaborated on this post. Lets talk about the most surprising dress ever. As a blogger, I am always trying to challenge myself I reach for the pieces that no one else is talking about, or the colors that might seem “too loud” or “not for the plus size girl”. I feel that it is my duty to push the limits and try pieces that will expand my ability to express myself through clothing. Lets dig into a review of this tie dye dress!

This dress is by Kiyonna, and is aptly named the “Draped in Class” dress, the silhouette is rocking and is specifically cut to flatter the curvy figure.

The Fit

I am wearing a 1 in this dress, its really a perfect fit. Under the draped top there is a built in tank that is supposed to help with coverage, but not be seen. I had read some reviews about this dress before ordering, and the little under tank was the topic of a couple reviews. I felt that the tank was supposed to help cover and keep your top under control but not be seen. I would order your usual size in this dress.

The Pattern

On kiyonna.com the dress appears to be a black/grey and white tie dye print. In reality the color is much more dark blue and white, don’t call me crazy but this dress made me feel stormy. I don’t own many tie dye pieces, after wearing this piece I find myself shopping for more!

Where to Wear

Where are my boho curvy babes at? This dress would be BEYOND perfect for any dressier event you are attending. It is well made and a classy silhouette. The pattern is bohemian and free spirited in an elevated way. Do you have a wedding to attend this summer or fall? This dress is a great way to dress up, and still show off your boho spirit.

Where to Buy

This dress is available on kiyonna.com, Kiyonna often offers sales, or free shipping so keep your eye on the website.

Top | Pants | Shoes

What is it that they say about taking fashion risks? If you don’t try it you will never know if you like it. I think thats it, and it couldn’t be more true with these statement pants. I don’t usually post workwear pieces, because I live a very casual life. I don’t get dressed up for work and there is no dress code at my job. But when I was first introduced to the Astra Signature line (designed and created by Crystal Coons from the vlog Sometimes Glam) I knew that I had to have these pants in my life. One of my goals as a blogger is to bring pieces to my readers in plus sizes that usually aren’t available. Like my white lace skirt with Society Plus, I am always looking for pieces that exist in the straight size world but don’t in the plus size world. These pants fit that description. 🙂

Pant Details

These are the “Annie” pants(fitting right LOL), they are a dark navy and feature a tapered leg and a paper bag waistline with a belt. The fabric is a stretch Cotton/Nylon blend that is very soft and easy to wear and has a slight sheen to it. I am wearing a size 14, they are meant to fit loose around the hips and thighs. I originally ordered a size 16, and had to exchange for a smaller size.If I were you, I would size down.

How to Style

I opted to style these pants with a pair of summer sandals(that are not really work appropriate LOL) and a white blouse. I wanted to keep it simple so that the waistline detail could really shine, I struggled to pair a jacket with these pants because the waistline brings so much drama. If you are a person that prefers to have your shoulders covered(or your office requires it) I would style these pants with a top like this, or this. And with shoes like this. 🙂

For more of a dressy casual, fashion forward look, that isn’t about work. I would love to style these pants with a white ribbed tank, and sky high heels. Wearing a fitted top is really going to highlight the unique waistline, and in my case my waist is the smallest part of my figure, so a fitted top will really show that off. I can see myself wearing these on a dinner out with my girlfriends.

Where to buy?

Astra Signature is available on Amazon, if you have a Prime membership you can have these pieces in two days! I order everything on Amazon, from Cat food to Chic pants I use my Prime membership often. Make sure you follow Astra on your social channels, they often release coupon codes through Instagram that can save you a bundle when you order.

Lipsense Review

Lipsense Color | Dress | Shoes | Bag

It has been to long since I have posted a beauty review. Today I am so excited to share a product that is revolutionizing the beauty industry, have you heard of Lipsense? Its a long lasting lip stain/lipstick that has some serious staying power.  A friend of mine recently started selling Lipsense and sent me some products to review.

Before we get started with all of that, lets get to know this product a little better. Lipsense is…

Gluten Free

Vegan

Wax Free

Smudge Proof

Kiss Proof

Waterproof

Not Tested on Animals

Lasts 4-18 hours

I received the starter kit from Amy, this retails for 55 dollars. In this kit you receive one color(of your choice) a gloss(to seal the color) and a remover(you need this believe me).

The first day I wore Lipsense I applied it at 11am, I followed the directions explicitly and found that the product stayed on my lips perfectly for 4 hours, in that time I had lunch, drank water and a diet coke. I read that the more you wear Lipsense the longer it will last on your lips, I know weird, its something about buildup from other lip products. I have found this to be true! I have worn my Lipsense 5 more times since and now it will stay for a solid 8-10 hours.

When I first applied the product it stung a little bit, this has also faded as I have worn the product more and more. I have found that YOU MUST HAVE A STEADY HAND WHEN APPLYING THIS STUFF. Don’t try and put it on while driving(ask me how I know lol), don’t put it on in a hurry. One miss swipe and you have a lipstick that WONT COME OFF on your skin and not your lips.

Luckily that is where the Oopsy remover comes in, you can “edit” your progress with the remover, cleaning up your lines around the lip( or your skin lol).

For my first experience with the product I went with a bold red called Fly Girl. I love having this color for nights out, and blog shoots. Its a little too bright red for everyday around the house or office. I would apply the product in the morning go shoot a look, and then forget I was wearing it lol. I found myself passing a mirror in the middle of the day, and being surprised that I had lipstick on, LOL.

I am looking forward to investing in some softer colors that will work for everyday.

Full Figured Fashion Week Outfit Roundup

What I wore to Full Figured Fashion Week Events

Hi lovelies! I am formatting this post a little different than my usual posts. I wanted to share the FFFWeek events that Liz(withwonderandwhimsy.com) and I chose to attend and what I wore to each event. If you are thinking of attending next year, I want to give a little bit of advice. When picking your outfits for each event just do you. Now that I am home I can say that I probably over thought it. Next time I attend, I will just do me and dress in pieces that make me feel my most confident and comfortable.

FFFWeek Kick Off Event

Dress | Shoes | Bag | Sunglasses

For the first event of the week, I chose to go with a flowy maxi from ASOS. I love the unique color combo for summer, and the pleated skirt. The kickoff event was held at a loft in SoHo in this sweet neighborhood lined with Italian restaurants and pretty store fronts. We had small bites and wine at the event, and got to meet up with other bloggers and influencers.

After the event Liz and I headed across the street to this TINY Italian place for some authentic Italian food. Don’t ask me the name of the place because I honestly have no idea. LOL

Fit For Me Influencer Event

Skirt | Top(Similar) | Bag | Shoes | Earrings

I received an invitation to the Fit For Me influencer event, and I STRUGGLED to pick an outfit. At the last minute I made a switch to my Society Plus Midington skirt, with a a lace crop top. This event was really fun, they had makeup touch ups, a runway event, and cocktails. Everyone was dressed in their signature style, and I was having my “Carrie Bradshaw” moment(full skirt, fancy bag, sky high heels).

Afterwards a bunch of us bloggers went for dinner, it was so fun to sit with 7 other women and just talk about the industry, our blogs, and our businesses. I felt like a “Real blogger” during dinner, this just fuels my fire to continue my work towards full time self employment.

Curves At Sea All White CruiseDress | Shoes | Bag

I have a full recap of my experiences at the White Cruise, you can find that here.

Would I attend Full Figured Fashion Week again?

This year, Liz and I chose to attend the first half of the event. We had never attended before and didn’t know that the last half of the event is really where its at for bloggers and influencers. I would attend again, but for the last half of the event. Probably from Wednesday – Saturday. I am hoping to attend the Curvy Conference in NYC, and the upcoming Chicago Curvy Girl Conference!

I also have an outfit roundup up that is strictly my “off the clock” pieces that I wore touring around town, and to non FFFWeek events. That can be found here.

Summer Dresses with Yours Clothing

Pink Dress | Earrings | Shoes | Bag | Sunglasses

Black Dress | Earrings | Shoes | Bag | Sunglasses

Summer party season is upon us, every weekend for the past month Keith and I have had some event or party going on. During the summer I like to keep a cache of great party dresses on hand, from a casual graduation party to an evening wedding, my life is so much easier if I just have 3 or 4 dresses hanging around that can do it all. This summer, I am all about statement sleeves as this trend has grown there really is a statement sleeve for everyone. I prefer to go for the wow factor with statement sleeves, but there are subtle options that exist. A sleeve for everyone!

Yours Clothing and I collaborated on this post, and I am so excited to bring you two dresses from their collection that are the perfect compliment to any summer party you might have coming up.

Pink Trumpet Sleeve Dress

When I first brought this piece to my Instagram I captioned the photo “My Elle Woods moment” specifically because this color is so fabulous. Being a self proclaimed edgier dresser I don’t usually go for hot pink, but with this dress the color adds an element of heat that I didn’t realize was there until I slipped into it. This specific pink is so saturated, combined with the short length and trumpet sleeves, this little pink dress is perfect for a summer party or date night out. The fabric of this piece is a breezy rayon been that is cool and anti cling. I paired it with my sky high MK heels, but you would easily grab some pretty gold flats or espadrilles for a more casual look.

Bardot Skater Dress With Layered Flute Sleeves

I am not going to lie here. This dress is a showstopper. The cut is endlessly flattering, the fabric has stretch, and the sleeve detail is insanely cute. I love this dress for a evening summer wedding, or a dressy girls night out. The sleeve adds instant wow factor. I paired this dress with some Yours Clothing comfort heels, and a big hassle earring, I wore my hair down because thats the way I like it BUT could have easily worn a loose top know and a big chandelier earring. The fabric of this piece is a soft ponte stretch, and I did size up to ensure the off the shoulder detail would be comfy. If you love a vintage look, this dress is for you. If you love an edgier look, this dress is for you. If you love unique pieces that create conversation, this dress is for you. Do you crave being the life of the party? This dress is for you. 🙂

Curves At Sea Cruise with Kiyonna

Dress | Shoes | Bag | Bracelet | Sunglasses

I have been reading about the FFFWeek Curves at Sea Cruise for years, and this year I was actually able to attend! It was everything I thought it would be, from the Fashion to the Dance floor. I know this is super dorky but I really had so much fun seeing the city by boat, typical Anne…Everyone is out on the dance floor and I am staring starry eyed at the statue of liberty. lol

I knew months ago that I wanted to wear the Bianca Ruched Dress to the Curves at Sea party, the Bianca dress is ruched from the bodice down and is meant to be fitted, the draping across the shoulders provides some coverage and adds a little peekaboo effect along the neckline. Bodycon silhouettes are a style that I love and find empowering, what I like about this dress is that it offers support, so minimal to no spanx are needed.

This dress in white would be perfect for a bride at a bachelorette party, the color and style is perfect for a brides night out. Currently the Bianca Ruched Dress is available in raspberry, black and porcelain. At Kiyonna I usually wear a size one, I opted to size up because of the shape of the dress, and I am glad I did. The size two was a perfect fit. Liz and I had shopped earlier in the day, I picked up the spiked gold bracelet to add some edge to the look. I wore some strappy block heeled sandals, and carried my favorite Clare V. clutch. My feet were good all night long, but as soon as we got off the boat at 11 I could barely walk lol.

Details if you are thinking about going on the FFFWeek Curves at Sea Cruise

We boarded the yacht at 6:30pm and left the dock at 8pm, the boat took us around Manhattan and then back to the harbor at 11pm. There was music, a fashion show, cash bar(two mixed drinks averaged about 30 dollars), and dinner. I paid around 100 dollars for my ticket.  The clear style most women wore was tight white dresses, some of the best looks of the night did not follow that idea. So if you are thinking of going next year, rock your own style. Reach for a piece that will make you happy!

NYC Outfit Roundup

Its been a week since I got home from NYC, it was a fabulous trip. Liz(withwonderandwhimsy.com) and I went to Full Figured Fashion Week and had a wonderful time. We packed in as much as we could in 5 days, from FFFWeek events, to searching out Instagram food we tried to fit as much in as possible.

I have soo many NYC posts planned but wanted to start with what I wore when we were “sightseeing” and not attending any events. A couple of the photos are iPhone pics, sorry about the quality.

Saturday

Jacket | Leggings | Shoes | Bag

On Saturday we arrived in the city super early and couldn’t get checked in until 1pm so Liz and I dropped our bags at the hotel and decided to have a no camera day. Just take our phones and go to the MET. I wore this look on the plane and then most of the day Saturday. I love to travel in leggings and sneakers, I usually wear a jacket because sometimes I like to cuddle up in my jacket or it gets chilly.

Skirt | Top | Shoes | Earrings(similar) | Sunglasses

I wore this look to dinner on Saturday, something comfy and chill. Our flight was at 6am, so Saturday evening we were in bed by 9. LOL.

Sunday

Top | Skirt | Shoes

This outfit I packed specifically for our Bergdorfs shopping day. I wanted a comfy but dressier summer look that was still my style. We had brunch at Bergdorfs over looking the park. IT was AMAZING, Liz and I each picked up a little designer something at this iconic store. Much to Keiths dismay I picked up a Hermes Twilly, a perfect little addition to my growing LV collection. Also my first piece from Hermes.

Monday

Top | Denim | Shoes | Bag

Liz and I grabbed some gourmet Tacos, Margaritas, and 18 dollar Guacamole at a little Mexican place in our neighborhood. I love this look for going out, ripped skinnies, a statement top and some heels. A basic combination that WILL ALWAYS BE CHIC. And is my go to outfit for going out.

Tuesday

Top | Skirt | Bag

We didn’t get any proper photos of this adorable look. So I put together a few photos so you can get a better idea of how this look worked.

I wore my White Anne Lace Skirt showroom hopping(and instagram food eating) on Tuesday, it was soooooooo freaking hot in NYC while we were there. This look felt fresh and summery.

Wednesday

Dress | Shoes | Bag

Wednesday we ventured to Brooklyn to visit some boutiques and have lunch under the Bridge. I wore my new favorite dress from Universal Standard. Truth time- I got this dress a week ago and have worn it 4 times already. Its so chic, and easy to wear. I need every color.

Thursday

We went home on Thursday, and I wore basically the same travel outfit.

Leggings | Tee | Jacket | Shoes

I left my FFFWeek event outfits out on purpose. I will be sharing those looks on the blog soon!
