Adrianna Papell, Curls and Contours

This morning as I sit here and prepare to share some of the most glam and beautiful photos I have ever done, I am struggling personally. Struggling the way most curvier women struggle. The dreaded thoughts that leak into your brain, that you just can’t stop and you know come from a bad place. The “I am the biggest girl in the room” thoughts. Part of why I created Curls and Contours was to work through some of these feelings. As I settle in to the body that I am meant to have and I work to overcome these self conscious thoughts, I have days when its a struggle. What woman wants to be the biggest girl in the room, and what woman wants to have those thoughts. Its fucking ridiculous, its ridiculous that I can have it all but still have these shitty little feelings that come leaking in to my brain. I shouldn’t feel this way, I am fabulous and beautiful, I eat healthy and move my body. I have nothing to prove , I have spent most of my life on a diet of some kind. I have been told that if I just try this or I just only eat that. Then all my skinny girl dreams will come true. WHAT IS THAT. Why can’t I just be happy and love myself, did you know that if you love yourself you will actually make better choices BECAUSE of that love. Sometimes, I forget this sometimes I let that mean hateful girl that hides in the darkest corner of my brain tell me things that just hurt. Eventually I regain my confidence, and regular programming returns. I can go back to my usual fabulous self.

Ok, off the pity party soap box.

THIS DRESS! I found this while cruising through the fall Nordstrom clear the rack sale. I fell in love, and had the wonderful people at Nordstrom Rack order me up one size. Because I am constantly buying clothing that is too big for me, the dress came in and was TOO BIG. So I had it tailored(by my amazing Aunt), and we made some changes. The length of the slip had to go, it was just to much, we took in the waist but left the bosom loose and flowy. I think I need a 1920’s themed party to attend, this little number would be perfect at a wedding or a cocktail party. Once again, the powers of a perfectly tailored dress just doesn’t disappoint.

Handmade Heaven

In a world where everything is made by the thousands and in a factory it is so refreshing to have something homemade just for you. As we set in for the coldest part of winter, you constantly need to have a third layer just to keep some semblance of warmth, a great way to incorporate this is with an infinity scarf. Etsy is a great place to find handmade items and gain access to creators that are just waiting to make something just for you. My friend Sasha has a fantastic little Etsy shop she can crochet basically anything(make sure to check out her shark and mermaid blankets) she made this scarf to order just for me, and I had to share her work with you. We go way back, like Equestrian Team way back, I love that I can share her work and spread the word about a good creative person making beautiful things. ūüôā Its basically one of the best parts about this blogging gig.

Also…THIS OUTFIT! To say I am obsessed would be an understatement. From now on if it has ruffles on the hem, I want it. AND¬†the color, its pretty damn close to cream and you know my thing about cream sweaters.

I plan on wearing this scarf with everything casual, from this sweater and skinnies to some leggings and a tunic. This particular scarf has a slight tinsel in it(which is basically glitter), it adds that little extra something.

Poncho Style

What is not to love about a poncho, easy to wear, super cute and so on trend right now. A poncho is a great way to add another layer to your look while amping up the cozy factor. I am sure I have shared in the past my love of cozy looks.

When styling a Poncho, you need to balance the loose fit of the poncho with fitted clothing underneath. That can come in the form of some leggings and boots, or a shear top and skinny jeans. A poncho can be the perfect piece of light outerwear to throw on when Christmas shopping, when I head into the Mall I hate wearing my big bulky coat, but its to cold to go without something. A poncho is the perfect piece of outerwear that will keep you looking chic, and warm enough to get in and out of the Mall during the Holidays.

Poncho options-

Dotted Line Poncho

Bonfire Poncho

Cardigan Poncho

Cable Knit Poncho

Hooded Blanket Cape

Right now, my favorite Ponchos are coming from Loft. AND TODAY they are all 50% off!

Eve Organics Beauty

Ahhh! I am so excited to share Eve Organics Beauty with you! This fantastic beauty brand has so much to offer its insane! Lets just lead with some facts about Eve Organics Beauty, Michigan made product, vegan, all natural, cruelty free, and charitable(YES I JUST WROTE THAT!)

I don’t know what it is about red Lipstick that I just can’t stay away from. I love the way it finishes off your look, instantly sexy, bold and chic the right shade of red can take your whole look to the next level. Now that being said not all red lipsticks are created equal or go on the same way. Some dry out your lips, some feel like grease, some come right off. Vixen from Eve Organics Beauty does none of that. This lipstick STICKS and is a fantastic shade of red. I have worn it with a full face of makeup to finish my look, and with big sunglasses and minimal makeup when I am running late. My lips stay moisturized and Vixen has a staying power.

Oh bronzer, what is it about finding the perfect bronzer that can drive a girl mad? I am so fair, translucent skin in the winter fair. I don’t even tan well. So that means bronzer is HARD for me, like a real struggle. I have been working with two of the Bronzers from Eve Organics, the Contour, and the Beautiful. The Contour bronzer is used for what its named for, contouring. The Beautiful bronzer is for all over color, I also used it to blend the Contour bronzer(because I am so fair). On my lighter makeup days I used the Beautiful bronzer to contour, and blend. This mineral makeup is loose so¬†you do not need much of the product. A little goes a long way, and what is great is that mineral makeup never goes bad so, this bronzer¬†will last a long time depending on your use.

Have you tried Eve Organics Beauty yet?

Mixed Prints and Glamorous Campers.

HELL YES! I finally got to go to a Vintage Glamper show and Flea Market! I have this secret (ok not so secret) love for glampers (glamorous campers). I have been actively searching for an old crappy camper to redo into a fantastical girl camper, to take out on weekends and just be girly and sparkly in. You know drink Ros√©, knit, and eat Meringues. A friend told me about this event happening just west of our place that was featuring vintage glampers and other girly fabulous vintage items. So OF COURSE we decided to go, and OF COURSE it was shitty weather. So I was able to break out my rain jacket, and blanket scarf…Can I get another HELL YES! I love my scarves.

I got so much inspiration from this event for my own glamper, it was seriously like Pinterest coming to life right before my eyes…SO AMAZING. Now my glamper fever is EVEN worse than it was before.

Catch up with me on Pinterest! I have an entire board all about my Pinterest obsessions.

Statement Necklaces for days…

Have you ever looked at those women that wear those unbelievable statement necklaces and thought, I could never pul that off? I know I have. I always used to see those girls and think how glamorous they were, and I used to wonder if I could ever make something like that work with my own style.

Enter the perfect necklace that encompasses both the free spirit and the glamorous girl in me. The “Hailey” Necklace from Mirina Collections is both vintage and glam. I wore it out for the first time paired with a Vintage Southwestern Roper Jacket. I know they don’t sound like a good fit, BUT the Hailey took my look to the next level. I instantly went from 70’s cowgirl, to a chic bad ass with a fantastic vintage jacket.

Don’t ever be afraid to try something new, even as a fashion blogger I still have to push myself to try new things.

If you shop Mirina Collections, make sure to use the code “anne20” to receive 20% your purchase!

Glossybox September

Just a quick post today, checking in with my Glossybox subscription. Currently on the couch recovering from a fun filled Saturday night in Detroit at the Zac Brown Band concert.

WOW, has it really been 3 months since I posted about my first Glossybox? Well I have been happily receiving and enjoying my Glossybox subscription since finding out through a friend about this great service. I am so happy with my boxes. Glossybox subscription service is like a gift to myself every month, when the box arrives it is packaged so well that you really do feel like you are receiving a present. I am praticularly excited to try out The Revitalizer from Boissanse, and the Coffea body scrub!

What was in my box this month? Here’s the details!

  1. Coffea– 16.00 A coffee scrub that claims to clear up dry patches, stretch marks and poor circulation(cellulite).
  2. Julep Luxe Lip– 24.00 This lip gloss has a Zamac tip applicator that is cooling, This gloss soothes, hydrates and plumps lips. *Does not taste good.
  3. Boissanse The RevitalizerР58.00 This emollient replenishes and hydrates the skin, This facial moisturizer can be used all over your body.
  4. Emité Artist Colour Powder BlushР22.00 This blush utilizes mica an ancient mineral that is used for its light reflecting properties.
  5. Nails Inc Uptown Nail Polish– 14.00 Nails Inc has created a lacquer that is both glossy and long lasting. This polish claims to be highly pigmented. I am going to try it out, but I will say that Glossybox continues to send me pink polishes when in my beauty profile I specifically wrote that I liked darker polishes.

Fall 2015 Bags

YASSSS! Its time for a new Fall bag! I love Fall bags almost as much as I love Pumpkin Spice Lattes! Natural fibers are IN this fall, leather, animal print, fur. As the weather turns your go to bag is going to switch from summer cloth to a fantastic leather beauty.

You know I love to play into the latest accessories, when you have a solid foundation of basics grabbing up a trendy bag is an easy way to stay on trend and still look classy and chic. There are endless options depending on your specific style. The bags that I selected below fit with my wardrobe. In terms of price point, these trends are going to be seen at all price ranges. I prefer to go for a middle of the road bag, I am willing to pay between 50 and 300 dollars for a bag. At this price point you are going to get something that is quality and will last you for the whole season. You may not get a bag that is going to last you for years to come BUT that means you can stay on trend every year! Now I KNOW I would love to just go buy a new Louis Vuitton every season. But alas, that is not the case for this curvy blogger.

The small collection of bags I have in this post represent the latest fall trends. There are so many different styles in every trend that there is literally something for everyone! To get an even better deal make sure you are shopping during sales and at your local TJ Maxx, Marshals, or Nordstrom Rack!

Which one is your favorite?

I know I will probably have a studded bag in my future!! I just love the look and vibe!

Ralph Lauren Eat Your Heart Out.

I have been waiting patiently for the weather to break so I can start wearing my favorite summer pieces into Fall. This dress was my first blog post! I wore it to a summer festival with bare legs and cowboy boots, now I plan on wearing it as a fall tunic with leggings and boots.

I picked up this hat on my travels to Telluride CO, and I am IN LOVE! This hat is from Conner Hats, a sustainable company that creates beautiful hats with organic cotton.

This is my first post in a series featuring Fall transition looks, September is a time of change, as the weather cools and the days grow shorter. Its not cool enough to break out your sweaters and ponchos but its not warm enough to run around in sandals and tank tops. So many of your favorite summer pieces can now work as transition pieces into fall. Grab a jean jacket, through on some leggings and be perfectly on trend while still shopping from your own closet!

An Evening with Mr. Bond

Friday evening wedding with the dapper Mr. Adams, we had a blast and I loved seeing my main squeeze all dressed up in a Tux. Because my hubby was IN the wedding and really dressing up I also took it to the next level and wore something a little on the dressier side.

Staying true to my love for discount designer duds, I shopped for my whole look(omit the sunnies) from TJ Maxx, Marshals, and Nordstrom Rack. My Halston Heritage bag, and my Vivienne Westwood sunnies have been on the blog before, BUT these shoes are NEW!!

Lace up heels are all the rage right now, and this pair is the perfect sassy neutral to go with pretty much any outfit you might want to pair it with. I plan on wearing these with skinny jeans, casual dresses, and a jumpsuit. So easy to wear and very comfortable, these shoes are SO trendy and sexy that you are going to get a million compliments on them. Seriously. One Million.

Here are some Lace Up heel options-

  1. Dolce Vita “Henlie”¬†
  2. BCBGeneration Carnival Lace- Up
  3. Delman Darci Bootie
  4. Jessica Simpson Emerita Pump
  5. Nine West Angellica Bootie

If you are loving my dress here are some options-

  1. Paper Dolls Plus, Floral Appliqué Dress
  2. Paper Dolls Plus, Crochet Lace Pencil Dress
  3. Pizarro Nights, Embellished V-Nack A- Line Cocktail Dress
  4. Marina, V- Nack Lace Fit & Flare Dress
  5. London Times, Keyhole Detail Eyelet Shift Dress

This look works because I am mixing a classic dress with some sassy accessories. This is a simple and easy way to take your look from blah, to the party fashionista. I always cry at weddings ALWAYS.
