What a whirlwind holiday week. We traveled for the holiday, and had a wonderful time catching up with family and eating too much delicious food. If you follow my on Instagram, then you know I wasn’t very active on social media last week. It was nice to take a break, but ALSO my husband found a puppy in the woods where my family lives. A little, tiny, adorable baby puppy that was abandoned, naturally we decided to clean her up, and take her home to be adopted. AND naturally I completely fell in love with her, I was so busy taking care of this tiny little being that keeping up with everyone hit the back burner.

Society Plus, Curls and Contours

I am affiliated with Society Plus. I picked up this skirt during the 40% off sale, and its GORGEOUS. I have done sequin skirts before, in fact its somewhat of a holiday tradition of mine. What I specifically love about this one? This skirt is saturated in sequins, they are sewn thick on the fabric, and the quality shows.

Last year, I paired a muted sequin mini skirt with plaid and some rugged black booties. This year I went for  a full skirt with lots of dazzle. I wanted to offset how bright the skirt was with a rugged leather jacket(this one is actually coated denim) and some leather booties. I kept my accessories simple, because the skirt has so much going on.

Style Trick- Anytime you go ultra feminine, grab a masculine accessory to add some edge to the look. Think leather jacket, or a choker.

I am affiliated with Society Plus, but I paid for this skirt(and the whole outfit LOL) myself. 🙂

Its here! The time when its socially acceptable to start talking about the holidays! If you are like me, you have holiday gatherings planned from the last week of November all the way through the end of the year. From work events, to casual gatherings you need some cute outfits.

So excited to share Tiel Dorein, this fantastic line was designed and created by 25 year veteran of the fashion industry. It is her mission to provide more options for curvy women from the boardroom to a night out. One of my favorite aspects of blogging is working with brands that are truly for the curvy woman, each piece in this line is thoughtfully designed and created to empower the plus size woman(I mean it really can’t get better than that girls). Tiel Dorein is just that, a high quality boutique with pieces specifically created for the professional curvy woman. 🙂

Lets talk this dress. First of all, THE FABRIC IS AMAZING! Its a heavy jersey that has structure and stretch, instantly comfortable and professional. Defiantly something you can wear to the office with ease. But not being an office girl myself, I had a little style challenge on my hands. I wanted this dress for the holidays, for parties. I wanted to bring this dress out of the office and into a party setting, so I paired it with some OTK boots and a sassy clutch. I have a firm belief that every woman needs a red dress in her closet, this gorgeous piece is the perfect fit. This is one of those versatile dresses that you can put on in the morning to wear to work, and then do a quick accessory change and have this dress take you into the evening.

I am linking some boardroom accessories in this post, if you are loving this look for the office.

My current holiday plans? I already have 3 parties on my calendar(how did that happen)! Ranging from glamorous nights, to casual gatherings with friends. I am on a mission to be well dressed for each and every one.

Just a quick roundup blog linking some of my recent Instagram outfit posts! I get questions all the time about what I am wearing, and where I find some of my pieces. I am so guilty of sharing selfies and my daily outfit details on my Instagram, more than my Facebook. With these types of posts, you can shop my looks all in one place. 🙂

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned in passing (I must have blacked out or something) to my husband that I would like to jogging with him sometime(he is one of those annoying people that loves running…I know, gross). Well now he has been reminding every freaking day that I said that, EVERY DAY. So my attempts at dodging him and my excuses for not doing couples workouts have finally run out. So…I need tips, are you a jogger? I am a total girl about sports and exercise, I am a power walking, hiking, horseback riding, dancing in my living room girl. Are there any tricks that I can try to help ease into this whole “Jogging” thing.

Just a heads up, I don’t want to lose my curvy shape or be smaller than my current size 14. I love myself, and I have come way to far in my self acceptance journey to even think about losing my curvy shape. In an effort to love my body, I need to move it more.

Swinging Into The Holidays Pt. 1

What are you wearing to your next Holiday gathering? I hate buying a dress and only wearing it once and then never again. So I am always searching for dresses that I can wear over and over again, dresses that can easily be fixed up for a night out or dressed down with some riding boots and a cardigan.

This dress from Curves Avenue is perfect for the Holidays(or anytime really). You can dress it up with some booties and faux fur or throw on some riding boots and a cardigan for Holiday shopping or work.

Poncho Style

What is not to love about a poncho, easy to wear, super cute and so on trend right now. A poncho is a great way to add another layer to your look while amping up the cozy factor. I am sure I have shared in the past my love of cozy looks.

When styling a Poncho, you need to balance the loose fit of the poncho with fitted clothing underneath. That can come in the form of some leggings and boots, or a shear top and skinny jeans. A poncho can be the perfect piece of light outerwear to throw on when Christmas shopping, when I head into the Mall I hate wearing my big bulky coat, but its to cold to go without something. A poncho is the perfect piece of outerwear that will keep you looking chic, and warm enough to get in and out of the Mall during the Holidays.

Poncho options-

Dotted Line Poncho

Bonfire Poncho

Cardigan Poncho

Cable Knit Poncho

Hooded Blanket Cape

Right now, my favorite Ponchos are coming from Loft. AND TODAY they are all 50% off!

The New Neutral

Ahh, this pink is so so gorgeous, its the perfect Marie Antoinette meets Mean Girls pink. A fantastic shade on virtually anyone, AND its so in for Fall and Winter! I really happened to stumble upon this entire outfit, you know how sometimes things just really come together? That is this outfit for me, the bag was an LA Neiman’s find, the Jeans are classic leggings, booties are last year from Dr. Scholls of all places, the scarf is a last minute I need a scarf and I happen to be at TJ Maxx find, and the top was a Nordstrom Rack 80% grab. IN FACT I have the same tunic top in green and gray(which I did pay full price for…boo).

In case you happen to be wondering. MY pumpkins and fall stuff is still out, because I don’t start Christmas until AFTER Thanksgiving. So. There.

Back to this pink, super easy and glam to pair with creams and whites. Pastel pink is the new neutral for me. From sunnies to tunics, its easy to wear but just lends that little extra “I am sassier than I look” vibe. Perfect for every woman I know.

Pink Options-

  1. NYDJ Cowl Neck Sweater
  2. Melissa McCarthy Crystal Shoulder Tunic Top
  3. Short Sleeve Lace Top
  4. Chiffon Blouse with Openwork
  5. Lacy Blouse with Bell Sleeves

Sweaters and Skinnies

Its that time of year again. Where you find yourself getting ready to walk out the door in morning and you question if you need to grab that coat or not. I put off the inevitable “Coat” weather for the longest that I can bear it. I love to layer my look with sweaters, scarves and heavier fabrics through the fall. My down coat doesn’t see the light of day until December. I will dutifully wear my big down coat from December to March 1. Then all bets are off, I go back to layering and boycott “Coat” weather once again.

Sweaters and Skinnies, I know you have both in your closet. These two staple items for the Fall Fashionista can be whatever you want them to be, cozy, sexy, or relaxed. I like to pair my skinnies with everything from riding boots, to moccasins. But when I want to lend my look a sexier vibe I grab my wedge booties, effortlessly chic and comfortable the wedge bootie can really lend that cozier look a sexy vibe. AND WHO DOESNT WANT TO FEEL SEXY!

Some Skinny Jean Options-

  1. Not Your Daughters Jeans “Alina” Skinny
  2. Poetic Justice “Maya” Stretch Skinny
  3. Loft Curvy Sateen Five Pocket Jegging
  4. Loft Curvy High Waist Skinny

The Perfect Black Boot

For the past couple of weeks I have been on the hunt for a new black boot. Each year I update my boot collection in the Fall. I have this thing about boots, some fashionistas have a thing about purses, or nail polish, or expensive jeans. While I do love all of those things, for me its boots I just freaking LOVE boots. Over the years I have curated my tastes in a good boot specifically to leather all weather boots. I am really hard on my shoes, I always have been. That now translates into needing really good shoes, and a variety of them to share the workload. Thats at least what I tell my husband every time a new boot box comes through the door. Haha.

I have fabulous brown boots, I have fabulous snow boots, I have fabulous rain boots, I have fabulous wedge boots, I have fabulous riding boots, I have fabulous cowboy boots. My current black boot situation is not good, the pair from last year was not quality. So I am on the hunt. I want something rugged but subtle, not refined. I like a boot with buckles and a thick sole. I also need a wide calf. I want a leather boot, that is waterproof but not insulated(I have insulated boots already). With all of those specifications my pool of choices has become pretty small. I am sharing my options and the boots that I am picking from.

Being a curvy boot loving girl, I have to be careful to balance my whole appearance when wearing boot and skinnies. A rugged boot, with buckles and some slouch helps create a balance to your look.

Frye offers some fabulous options and Nordstrom is having a sale!! I am a big fan of Sorel, and Naturalizer. Being an equestrian I also have some Ariat boots that I have talked about on the blog.

Dentz Denim

My Halloween Bash went down last night, and currently I am on the couch with a tea, and Sleepy Hollow on Hulu. I just want to be cozy today, so naturally I am in my favorite new sweatshirt from Dentz Denim. Its slouchy fit works perfectly with leggings, and later when I drag myself to the grocery store my favorite sneakers and vest will be on point with this adorable top.

Dentz Denim sent me this sweatshirt to try out, and I am IN LOVE, if being a “Wifey” isn’t  for you, your are in luck because they have hundreds of designs!!

All The Plaids

In the fall I find myself gravitating toward cozy fabrics and plaid. I crave cardigans, vests, and flannels.

I have this thing for cream fuzzy cardigans, every time I see one in a store I instantly want to have it. 99% of the time they aren’t flattering one me. So bummed. But I do have success with vests, I love a good vest and this year I finally indulged in the coveted J Crew style vest. I went with a plaid black vest, which initially I didn’t want. I thought that I needed a plain black vest, but a friend urged me to go with a black pattern and I am so glad that I did. Stepping outside of my comfort zone I have really been playing with pattern mixing.

Pattern mixing is so in right now, take a chance and step out of your comfort zone. Try that pattern vest, or jacket!

Here are some outerwear options with a little more sass!

  1. Lucky Brand
  2. Target Puffer Vest
  3. Old Navy Quilted
  4. Poncho
  5. Ralph Lauren
