Today on the blog I am sharing two fabulous spring dresses from Avenue! I am loving all the trends that are coming out, and I don’t know about you but this curvy babe is ready to ditch the leggings and get into some dresses. BUT there is one big problem, its still cold AF here in the Mitten state. Being the type of girl that loves a style challenge, I decided to style two spring dresses that you can wear N O W!
I wanted to highlight different ways to add layers and warmth to a warm weather dress. First up would be this beyond polka dot A-line dress. I love black and white, and can be often found in these two colors. BUT I rarely rock the polka dot, but on this particular garment the pattern was just right, I am 5′ 6″ and this dress fell above the knee in that perfect spot where its not too short but not matronly. I added my trusty leather jacket(I picked this up last season at Nordstrom) and my favorite leopard clutch(a shopbop buy). This fun polka dot dress gets a chic styling, with black sunglasses and black heels. I would rock this look out for date night any day of the week! The flirty ruffle hem adds some dimension and a little extra swing when I sashay down the street LOL.
Ummmm…..Hi have you seen this next dress! This black and white striped find is SO fun and fresh for Spring! To keep this look suitable for colder weather I added some OTK boots! I would love to add a black duster vest to this as well for a warm look that still shows off the fun sleeve! When I look at this piece I think of Alice in Wonderland, is that crazy?
This stretch sheath(with a ruffle hem) dress is great for now because it has 3/4 length sleeves and a modest neck and hemline(hello keeping the heat in!). But in spring, style this same dress with a red heel and a light jacket, you are ready to go to work or out on the town!
STYLE TIP – I styled this look with a red earring to draw out the red flowers in the pattern, this is a simple and efficient trick that really ties any look together! Just pick a small color in the pattern, and accessorize with it.
Raise your hand if you don’t “Love” tights or hosiery? *Anne raises her hand* hahaha, I am not big on tights, so I reach for OTK boots as an edgier full coverage option. I have found that by just adding an OTK boot you are instantly chic and put together. Add in the ruffle hemline of this dress and you have a recipe for a chic and sassy transitional outfit.
How To Use LIKEtoKNOW.it I am finally sitting down to write this post, and its been needed for over a month!
Lets get started!
In todays post, I am going to teach you how to use and get started with LIKEtoKNOW.it! There are going to be links to signing up and some screen shots what to look for!
What is LiketoKNOW.it – I recently was approved to join the exclusive affiliate linking program LIKEtoKNOW.it, this particular program is wildly popular among consumers and influencers, its unique in that when you “Like” a photo on Instagram(or other social outlet) and you are signed up for the program, the influencers outfit details(or home details) get sent directly to your email! This type of marketing is extremely convenient to the customer, there is no need to go onto the influencers blog and search for a link…etc All the details land in a nice little package right into your inbox.
Below is a screenshot of what a typical LIKEtoKNOW.it email looks like. Notice the photo you “liked” on Instagram, with the outfit details below. This can be anything from the exact outfit, to 20 dresses that look just like the dress in the photo, to what beauty products I am wearing. The emails get sent out every 15 minutes, so you can get details quickly!
How to recognize an influencer with LIKEtoKNOW.it – You may have noticed at the bottom of some of my social posts a little blurb like “follow me for more outfit details” and then a link and some hashtags, this is LIKEtoKNOW.it! The cool thing is, once you sign up any blogger photos you “like” on social media with LIKEtoKNOW.it will be sent to your inbox with outfit details! Another great way to recognize a LIKEtoKNOW.it influencer is the little circle with a heart symbol in the bottom right corner of the photo, this little heart can be white or black(its the influencers choice).
How to sign up for LIKEtoKNOW.it – Signing up to receive emails is SO easy! Go to LIKEtoKNOW.it and click SIGN UP! Then just enter your info and you are good to go! Check out the screen shots below of the LIKEtoKNOW.it home page and sign up page.
The LIKEtoKNOW.it App – Recently LIKEtoKNOW.it released its own application! This is a great way to see every photo that an influencer puts on social media with LIKEtoKNOW.it, I like to use it to see the whole cache of influencer photos. That way if I am looking for something they shared a few weeks back its easy to find, and I am not stuck searching through their Instagram. Check out the photos below of the LIKEtoKNOW.it app, and search for it in your app store or play store!
How to navigate the LIKEtoKNOW.it App – When you enter the app you will be plopped onto the home page, this page will have your most recent “likes.” You can then navigate over to the “My Influencers” section of the app by clicking along the bottom bar of icons. There you will find influencers you “follow” within the app!
For the influencers interested in getting started as a LIKEtoKNOW.it affiliate – My biggest tip is to produce high quality content and imagery, be consistent with your work across all your platforms, and keep re-applying for the program! The first time I applied I had been blogging 6 months, and didn’t have the highest quality photos. I was rejected for the program, and I didn’t even try to reapply for two more years! This past fall, I thought I would give it another shot and I was approved within 24 hours!

Day to Night Resort Looks with Loralette. Happy New Year!! I know we are well into January at this point, but this is my first post since my #selfcare hiatus. I haven’t take a week off of blogging in over a YEAR! So I decided that it was high time to take a little time to myself and boy did I need it! I am back now and ready to continue to bring you a fresh perspective and style tips for this year. IN FACT! I am so excited to be sharing some resort pieces with you from one of my favorite plus brands Loralette!
In todays blog post I am sharing a Day to Night Resort with Loralette, what is especially fun about this is…I shot these looks while on vacation and really went from day to night in them!
I paired a fun beach bag, some colorful sandals, and bright earrings with this stripe dress from Loralette. I wore this look to the Spa and we shot this look post massage(so relaxing). We have vacationed in Key West many times, and usually we stay on the island in a condo or rental house, a few years ago we stopped in at Casa Marina for massages and a beach day and now its tradition. This year it wasn’t beach weather, so we hit the Spa and then took off for lunch at our favorite restaurant on the island, Blue Heaven.
The most intriguing aspect of this garment is the relaxed sleeve. As a curvy girl, I feel like I ALWAYS end up in tops and dresses with fitted sleeves. You know the fit, its an age old popular one for curvy women, fitted arms, boxy waist. Its so refreshing to have a knitted dress with relaxed sleeve. I love the bold black and white stripe, this dress has an elastic waist with a faux drawstring.
STYLE TIP- Style this dress in the Spring with white sneakers and minimal jewelry for a sportier look. Its fun on vacation styled with bold accessories for a beachier vibe.
Key West is known for the famous Duval Street, and if you have been to the island than you know that Duval is party central. I styled this tiered hem olive green dress with sky high heels, my favorite Clare V clutch and some fun statement earrings. I love the way the hot pink earrings pop with the olive color, and you know my thing for a great pair of heels. I have worn this particular pair all over(see them in NYC HERE).
I love this dress for nights out on vacation, when the temps drop at night I like to have my “sun kissed/burnt” skin covered up. This particular piece is great now, and will pair really well some OTK boots for Fall an Winter weather at home.
Olive green has been so in this past season, I love finding new ways to mix this color into my wardrobe. I wore this dress for an evening out on the town, we had dinner and went to a few different bars along Duval St… Our favorite would be Irish Kevin’s, we love the live entertainment and raucous atmosphere!
A few details on this piece that are important to note. The tiered hemline is extremely flattering and a fun way to add dimension and texture. I found this dress to run small in the bust, I recommend sizing up for the best fit.

This post is sponsored by Kiyonna, and is part of a monthly series. This month is the Kiyonna Crinkle In Time Skirt, for more about Kiyonna go HERE, HERE, and HERE.
This is my last post of 2017! How is it possible that another year has come and gone. When this post goes live I will be on my way to a tropical vacation. So there will not be any actual blog posts next week. I am taking a much needed break to relax and recharge. I will be active on my social channels sharing outfits and shenanigans so keep up with me on Instagram and Facebook!
In todays post I am reviewing the Kiyonna Crinkle In Time skirt. This piece really surprised me, and I am excited to share it with you today! Lets dig in…
The Crinkle In Time skirt features an A line silhouette that runs on the slimmer side, I found this streamlined look flattering with a peasant blouse that featured a fuller sleeve for balance. The midi length is fun and on trend for the winter season. I opted to pair this skirt and blouse combo with some leopard booties to add a touch of glam and another layer of texture. This skirt feels upscale and special, and I could easily have paired it with heels and velvet for a night out.
Kiyonna is known for creating quality pieces for the plus size woman in a variety of styles and colors, I really love this skirt for the fall and winter season and can see myself pairing it with pops of pastel pink and baby blue as we move through winter and into spring. This skirt has that versatility because the fabric is so light and airy. The polyester blend in this garment has a light sheen to it, similar to its sister skirt the Kiss Me at Midnight skirt in ivory.
This post is sponsored by Chic Soul, and features my Chic Soul Gift Guide
Today on the blog I am sharing a gift guide for the clothes loving curvy babe. I set up my picks for the different curvy babes in your life from the girl that loves all things casual, to the beauty that lives for floral and ruffles and pink, to that glamazon that is rarely caught without leopard somewhere on her body.
I was referred to Chic Soul from my dear blogger bestie Liz, and I found myself gravitating to their site to peruse all the options. I am always on the hunt for unique pieces to mix into my wardrobe, and during the holidays you can never have too many cute outfits. When I sat down to map out this post, I knew I wanted to share some options for anyone shopping FOR a curvy babe. There are SO many options at Chic Soul, its easy to get lost, so I took some of the work out of it for you. I have my top three picks for three different types of tastes.
Lets get started.
The Glamour Girl.
Hi my name is Anne, and I am a self admitted glamour girl. I freaking love me some leopard, and black dresses make my life complete. I am known to carry expensive handbags, and I love big jewelry. Like a lot. This category was really really easy for me to put together, because DUH its my favorite. I included some leopard, dark florals, and a black sweater with a unique sleeve detail.
You know that girl in your life that lives in any variation of pink, sees lace as a neutral, and lives for pretty florals. My top picks for the girly girl in your life are a floral top with ruffled sleeves, a soft mocha cardigan with a ruffled hemline and a gorgeous pink top with black lace inset.
Raise yo hand if you live life in jeans and a tee. My picks for this girl, range from a top that has a little extra ruffle, to an Aztec sweater that I pretty much need. I styled my casual look with leopard, and some OTK boots to add some interest.

This week on the blog I am sharing an edgy outerwear look with Avenue and sharing my tips on how to complete your look with a coat or jacket! As the weather dips into cooler temps, its impossible to leave the house without something to keep warm. The days of one coat to last a whole season are gone, the plus size babe has so many options for keeping warm and fashionable. I teamed up with Avenue to bring you my take on a cold weather look, and my tips on creating a stylish outfit from boots to coat!
Lets get started!
Here are my steps to coordinating a complete look!
Step one – Have an arsenal of coats and jackets that can mix and match with what is in your closet. I usually keep coats for 3 or more seasons, so I like to have classic pieces that never go out of style. Like a classic Camel coat, and a black cape. Then I will add in trendier pieces that are great for casual outfits, and don’t break the bank.
Step two – Where are you going? Are you headed to the opera? Or out for an afternoon of shopping? This will determine your outfit obviously LOL, but also help you narrow down what outerwear to grab. If you are headed out for an afternoon at the mall, you don’t need the warmest coat in your closet.
Step three – Be mindful, when you are putting together your look for the day don’t just think about what shirt and pant you will be wearing, factor in what coats and jackets are currently in your closet too! I opted to pair this green blouse with my leggings and OTK boots BECAUSE I knew I wanted to wear my camo jacket!
I built this look around the camouflage coat and the velvet over the knee boots. I love this look for an afternoon of shopping on main street where you will be wearing your coat and boots the whole time. I kept my top and bottoms simple with the Avenue wide waist leggings and a green peasant blouse. I tend to lean towards all black, wanting to get out of the box a bit I opted for this green blouse instead. Which I actually love, the green compliments the camouflage well and adds more depth to the look.
This is my second pair of over the knee boots from Avenue, and I am so pleased to report that they STAY UP!! No slipping down my calf and no constant pulling up required. To see the other pair of OTK boots from Avenue go HERE!
This particular coat comes in two colors(Camo and Black) and falls into the “Anorak” category on the avenue.com site. Anorak coats have become increasingly popular each year, and they are classified as a hip length coat with a hood. This coat is “faux” sherpa lined and is quite warm! I found it to be true to size( I am wearing a 14/16) and plan on styling it with casual looks like this one, and with my usual jeans and booties.

Happy Holidays!! Today on the blog I am sharing a Kiyonna formal gown. When I picked out the Screen Siren Gown to review this month I purposefully chose a “Holiday” themed color. Every holiday season formal events pop up in our lives, and its good to have an arsenal of gowns to pull out and wear. Also if you are doing a holiday themed engagement photoshoot or holiday family photos(glam factor 1,000) this gown would be perfect! Not going to lie here girls, I was kind of have a Rose from Titanic moment with this dress, I felt sooooooo glam!
This gown is a pull on style that comes in a variety of colors, I chose the red for obvious christmas reasons, but it also comes in Navy, Black, and Grey. The dress is fully lined with the exception of the arms, and features a plunging neckline. I found this gown to be a great weight, this helped it to lay really nicely across my body. Because of the fitted nature of this dress I opted to size up, and it was a perfect fit. Both the lining and the outer layer are a Spandex/Rayon blend so this piece has quite a bit of stretch, which is so nice because you can actually move in it. Whether you are dancing or sitting down for a formal meal this gown is in for the long haul!
How to Style –
As most of you know I am a minimalist when it comes to accessories. I prefer to keep a few super quality handbags that will go with everything and last many years then to have a closet full of bags. I also carry this belief over to shoes and jewelry. I like to keep a stock of statement earrings that are super versatile, that way I can just grab and go. I love THESE for this dress!
My advice for styling this Kiyonna formal gown, keep it simple and classic, the neckline is so interesting with the scalloped lace that you don’t need a necklace. I skipped bracelets because I hate it when bracelets catch on lace and snag my gown (#notworthit).
I paired this dress with my trusty and well worn strap block heeled sandals that I wear ALL THE TIME. Once I have a pair of heels broke in its so hard to get away from them, purely based of the fact that they won’t kill your feet! If you live in a colder climate(like me) I suggest THESE to go with the Screen Siren gown.
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you are spending your day doing something you love with people you love! I am so thankful to have all of you to share my fashion and life with. Thank you for reading and following along.
I just wanted to share a quick post with some Black Friday sale links, inspiration photos, and my picks from the stores!
Have a great Thanksgiving!!
Have you started your holiday shopping yet?
I share a Kiyonna pieces regularly, this brand specializes in classic well made dresses for the curvy woman. I love to shop Kiyonna for casual and occasion dresses! Check out more of my Kiyonna posts HERE, HERE, and HERE.
My love affair with Society Plus started long before I had a skirt with them. I love to shop society plus for skirts, I own 4 of their skirts!! This brand is so great for honest sizing, and SUPER quality pieces!! For more on my experiences with Society Plus go HERE and HERE.
Rachel Pally is a designer that has both straight and plus sizes, I love her knit pieces specifically her knit maxi dresses!!
Jones NY is so great for wear to work styles, I love their winter coats and vests! Faux Fur is so fun in the winter, Jones NY has some great selections in “Faux” this year.
Loren Hope earrings are the bessstttttt! I first tried a pair in a jewelry subscription service, and have been hooked ever since. If you have been following me for awhile then you know I am jewelry minimalist, but when it comes to earrings I am always looking for quality statement pieces. Loren Hope has so much to offer in that category!
Today on the blog I am sharing some newwwwnesssss. This newness is two fold, I am bringing you a new brand, and with that brand I am sharing a brand new dress! Maggy London contacted me a couple months back and asked if I would be interested in sharing a piece from their curve collection with my readers and followers, it was a definite yes! I have stalked Maggy pieces for special events in the past, I love the classic styling and quality that goes into each garment.
Maggy London specializes in creating dresses that offer a polished style and impeccable craftsmanship. Having not worn a Maggy London dress before I wasn’t sure what to expect, and I am sooooo impressed with this dress. The craftsmanship is so evident, from the lining(yes its completely lined) to the perfect statement sleeves. If you have been following me for awhile then you know I have a thing for ruffle sleeves, and I will tell you that not all ruffles are created equal. Its all about the type of fabric and how the ruffle is attached to the garment. AND now I have seen the light, and been completely spoiled by Maggy London. LOL.
Lets talk styling.
This dress is called the “Stevie Curve Midi” and is considered a sheath style, the fabric is a crepe polyester blend and lays really nicely over the body. This piece is fully lined and features an invisible zipper that runs up the back. I styled this dress with minimal accessories, and my go to block heeled sandals. Another great shoe pairing would be a classic nude pump(like these). This dress is great for a party or a wedding guest look, the statement sleeves add drama and interest so keeping your heels low key is a must.
I have become a jewelry minimalist over the years, most days I just wear my wedding rings, but when I am in the mood to add something its almost always a statement earring. I paired some classic red tassel earrings for a pop of color to match my red lip. In the warmer months I could easily pair orange or yellow accessories with this dress for a warmer weather look. With the holidays upon us I really love the red.
This dress has a classic ease of wear look to it, its effortlessly chic, so styling it was a breeze. Keep it simple, and classic for outfit success.
Thanksgiving week is upon us, and you know what that means!! Black Friday AND Small Business Saturday are this week. Each year I try and get out to shop on Friday or Saturday, but the past couple of years I have started my holiday shopping on small business Saturday. I love going out to small businesses not only to support them but also to enjoy specials and events that they might have going on. In todays post I am collaborating with HIPS Resale boutique to share some affordable holiday outfit inspo AND hit you with the top 3 reasons I prefer to shop local.
Lets get started.
LOOK ONE– Lets call this first look “Low Key Holiday Glam,” Do you have a holiday office party to attend? Maybe this event is happening RIGHT after work, or even in the middle of the day? If so then this look is for you! I found this LB office appropriate sweater at HIPS to pair perfectly with this plaid pleated midi skirt, instead of grabbing black pumps or booties I decided to amp up the christmas factor with some red suede pumps. I love the pops of color in this look, and the ease of wear, women in general feel so much pressure during the holidays to have everything perfectly prepared and in place. That includes their appearance as well, with this look you are blending pieces that all work with other outfits(outside of the holidays) to create a low key glam holiday outfit.
Small Business Saturday isn’t just for American Express users anymore, this day of shopping has become for everyone! I love to shop on the last Saturday in November because I love supporting other entrepreneurs, especially other female entrepreneurs. In the fashion industry so many small boutiques are owned by women, I love being able to support other chicks with a passion. I will happily drive out of my way to stop at a shop that has exactly what I am looking for, on Small Business Saturday I get the chance to support those shops during the holiday season! HIPS is great for me as a curvy babe, I sell a lot of my clothing through HIPS AND I find the most unique pieces there. Detroit babes, if you ever see a piece on my blog that you love, here is a little secret its most likely at HIPS, or will be in the next month!
LOOK TWO – If my first holiday look from HIPS was low key, then this look definitely falls into the “Statement” category! HIPS has some amazing City Chic pieces at both stores right now, while I was shopping on my last trip in I immediately pulled this gem off the rack. I love me some sequins, and the rocker glam is soo there with black sequins. In my first post about HIPS(HERE) I shared that its so important to look at all sizes when shopping resale, and I took my own advice with this one. I am typically a size small in City Chic pieces, and this dress was only available in a L. Instead of giving up on it I grabbed a belt, and rolled up the sleeves for a casual-esque vibe. I love wearing sequins during the holidays, its my excuse to be extra. LOL. I paired this dress with my OTK boots(go HERE for more info on them) and my favorite red earrings. I love how chic and sparkly this look is, perfect for NYE or a holiday concert!
When I was growing up my mother always took me to “Holday Open House” events at local boutiques and shops, these special events always always had a refreshment table, store specials and the owner on hand to chat with customers. I loved the special feel and welcoming spirit of this type of event. On Small Business Saturday literally ALL boutiques will be having something like this. As a customer you can pop in, grab a donut and a mimosa and do some shopping for yourself OR your loved ones. Small businesses will have their best and brightest sales associates on hand to help you, they have been preparing for the holidays since July, and this coming Saturday is the kickoff!
LOOK THREE – The last look I am sharing from HIPS is a casual shopping or hanging at home look. I love how big and cozy this red sweater is, I paired it with some jeans and OTK boots for a trend forward look, but have since worn it with leggings and my slippers at home. When it gets cold I crave cozy fabrics to cuddle up in, and this look fits the bill perfectly, cozy, easy and chic. I am all about balance when it comes to dressing, and this type of look is no exception. When you are going with an oversized top, wear fitted bottoms to balance the look. If you pair oversized with oversized then your look can end up drowning you in fabric and look sloppy.
Are you shopping for a person in your life if specific tastes or needs? If the answer is yes, then Small Business Saturday is a great way to shop for and really wow that hard to buy for person in your life. HIPS specializes in plus size clothing at affordable prices, they have staff that knows their stuff and can help you shop for that curvy babe in your life. OR you can grab a gift card and some jewelry and be happy knowing that you will be giving the gift of choice to your loved one. I myself have been told that I am a person that is really hard to shop for, shopping with a small business will connect you with other people with a similar passion, thus upping your chances of getting the right gift. AND added bonus, you can share your new found small business with the person you are buying for! The more the merrier right!
Do you shop Small Business Saturday? Tell me in the comments below!
