AND. The birthday blog posts continue! I wasn’t planning on blogging this but my fabulous friend Liz from the blog With Wonder and Whimsy, came to help with the party and she brought her camera and was snapping pictures. I then thought that I would just keep them to myself and not share them on the blog. But then I got them back and they are so good, I just had to share with all of you. Thank you Liz for taking these!
About this party. My husband and mother orchestrated this whole event and I was not supposed to know about it. BUT being me I tried to plan a vacation the weekend the party was going to be, so my hubby had to tell me that a party was happening. So for weeks, I knew that a party was happening and that was that.
THEN. “Type A” Anne happened, I started questioning Keith about the amount of people, the decor, the tables and chairs, blah blah blah. So I put together some Pinterest images and an amazon shopping cart, and I crossed my fingers. Meanwhile, Keith is keeping me totally in the dark denying that he ordered anything claiming he had no idea what Pinterest was etc… LOL
On the day of the party, I am getting ready so that I can be kicked out so Keith can start setting up and one of my high school best friends comes walking up the stairs to surprise me!! She lives in Florida now and FLEW UP for 24 hours to spend the day with me and be at the party. So I cried.
And then we went to eat Mediterranean, and got Mani Pedi’s. It was amazing to spend the day with a person that I get to talk to on the phone everyday but never get to see.
We arrived at my house during the approved time and I was BLOWN AWAY. All of my ideas for the part had come to life. All my people were there, my family, family friends, friends, all the people that I love came to this party. So I cried.
Below is a very funny picture, that I just HAD TO SHARE. Because its real life. Liz, my Florida bestie Lindsay, and I were out in the backyard to take a couple of pictures, and out of the house comes my other high school bestie that now lives in California! They came to this party to surprise the hell out of me and IT WORKED. So I cried.
My husband had orchestrated this whole event to give me exactly what I wanted for my birthday, time with my best friends scattered across the country, one in Memphis, one in Los Angelas, and one in Fort Myers, and one here in the Mitten. Over the course of my birthday week, each fabulous woman had walked into my life, and we got to spend time together just us doing the things we love to do. I am crying right now while I write this post. It means so much to me that I got to share this milestone with them.
My cousin bestie from Memphis came up to stay the weekend before my birthday, we had coffee in the mornings, and traded outfits, we spent time with our family and just talked. My blogger bestie here in Michigan took me for a night out at a glam hotel, we shot looks, had dinner, and drank champagne. My music loving Florida bestie took me out for a day of relaxation, we had our favorite mediterranean food, and got mani pedis. I got to keep my California bestie the longest, we had a week of eating ALL THE CARBS, we went riding at the ranch and stayed up late watching Harry Potter every night. My favorite part of this week, and I know its weird. Was just being able to stare at them, and see their beautiful faces. Each of these women make up my tribe.
For the decor of the party, my mom bought faux Eucalyptus, Magnolia flowers, and succulents. White linens provided a simple backdrop with a pop of black and white fabric. My grandmother brought vintage milk glasses to drop flowers into, and my Aunt provided glass containers for snacks and flowers. My hubby put fairy lights in all the trees, and there were at least 50 votives spread around the party. My sister in law is a cake maker and she made a fabulous chocolate cake and mini cupcakes in all kinds flavors. The party decor was perfectly me, and my home. Everything was thought through, from the votives to the mint chocolate chip ice cream. We had Ribs, pulled pork and at least 5 different salads. The bar was stocked with all my favorite drinks, from Tito’s with Cranberry(and lime) to my favorite Meomi Pinot Noir.
