This week on the blog I am sharing an edgy outerwear look with Avenue and sharing my tips on how to complete your look with a coat or jacket! As the weather dips into cooler temps, its impossible to leave the house without something to keep warm. The days of one coat to last a whole season are gone, the plus size babe has so many options for keeping warm and fashionable. I teamed up with Avenue to bring you my take on a cold weather look, and my tips on creating a stylish outfit from boots to coat!
Lets get started!
Here are my steps to coordinating a complete look!
Step one – Have an arsenal of coats and jackets that can mix and match with what is in your closet. I usually keep coats for 3 or more seasons, so I like to have classic pieces that never go out of style. Like a classic Camel coat, and a black cape. Then I will add in trendier pieces that are great for casual outfits, and don’t break the bank.
Step two – Where are you going? Are you headed to the opera? Or out for an afternoon of shopping? This will determine your outfit obviously LOL, but also help you narrow down what outerwear to grab. If you are headed out for an afternoon at the mall, you don’t need the warmest coat in your closet.
Step three – Be mindful, when you are putting together your look for the day don’t just think about what shirt and pant you will be wearing, factor in what coats and jackets are currently in your closet too! I opted to pair this green blouse with my leggings and OTK boots BECAUSE I knew I wanted to wear my camo jacket!
- Faux Sherpa Lined Anorak Coat – size 14-32, 100.00 (but currently 60)
- Lace Embellished Babydoll Top – size 14-32, 60.00 (but currently 36.00)
- Wide Waist Ponte Legging – size 14-32, 49.00 (but currently 29.40)
- Tysens Velvet Over the Knee Boot – size 7-13, 59.99 (but currently 35.99)
I built this look around the camouflage coat and the velvet over the knee boots. I love this look for an afternoon of shopping on main street where you will be wearing your coat and boots the whole time. I kept my top and bottoms simple with the Avenue wide waist leggings and a green peasant blouse. I tend to lean towards all black, wanting to get out of the box a bit I opted for this green blouse instead. Which I actually love, the green compliments the camouflage well and adds more depth to the look.
This is my second pair of over the knee boots from Avenue, and I am so pleased to report that they STAY UP!! No slipping down my calf and no constant pulling up required. To see the other pair of OTK boots from Avenue go HERE!
This particular coat comes in two colors(Camo and Black) and falls into the “Anorak” category on the avenue.com site. Anorak coats have become increasingly popular each year, and they are classified as a hip length coat with a hood. This coat is “faux” sherpa lined and is quite warm! I found it to be true to size( I am wearing a 14/16) and plan on styling it with casual looks like this one, and with my usual jeans and booties.
