Happy Friday! I am so excited to share this post with all of you! Last week I shared my birthday staycation at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham MI and this week I wanted to share how I dressed for the High Tea we enjoyed while we were there!
When my blogger bestie told me that we were going to have a High Tea for my birthday I knew that I wanted to dress in something really special. I knew that whatever I picked needed to be outside of my usual style, because Afternoon Tea is a whimsical special experience. So I started my research on the internet, I started looking at all my usual haunts, Nordstrom, ASOS, and Eloquii. AND I did find some contenders, I will link them in this post. But nothing was really jumping out at me the way I wanted it to. So I dropped it, I decided that the right outfit would come to me, and I shouldn’t stress about it. Boy was I right!
While doing some traveling, I happened to be able to stop into the Columbus Easton Eloquii store(this was before the Detroit store opened). And while I was in, I saw my Tea dress, in fact I saw it from across the store, and I knew that it fit all the requirements I had going for my tea look. Sometimes you need to shop in store for special occasion dresses, it doesn’t always translate over the internet.
I knew that I wanted a dress, something feminine. Afternoon Tea in my American mind is a decidedly feminine affair. I knew that whatever dress I picked needed to be whimsical. Now if you have read my blog before then you know one of my best friends is one of the most whimsical people you will ever meet. EVER. I know what whimsy means to her, its a garment that makes you smile.
This dress fits my style, with the black and white stripe and poppy red flowers. The wrist detail and high neck make this dress whimsical and fun for Tea. I wore my black heels to add a touch a glam, and a full red lip really draws the red flowers out of the dress! My go to leopard clutch adds another touch of glam and some texture with the print.
