Happy Quarantine Babes! I know many of us are spending ALL OUR TIME at home these days, with all the salons, restaurants and many offices closed up we hardly have any reason to go out at all. Which for the first week is really fun, and then boredom sets in…You find yourself organizing every closet, deep cleaning the floor boards and finding reasons to keep busy. So I thought it would be fun to share my favorite nail polish colors for a DIY Manicure.
I feel like I go through phases with my nails, I am either getting them done regularly at the nail salon or I am doing the DIY thing exclusively. And right now, with an infant and social distancing its DIY ALL THE WAY! I have a nail kit full of different colors but these 6 nail colors are the ones I am always reaching for, as well as my tried and true top coat that I have been wearing for years. I like to call these polish colors the “Chic girls must have nail colors.”
Here are my favorites(from left to right)
- Essie – Wild Nude
- Essie – Licorice
- OPI – Cajun Shrimp
- OPI – My Wish List Is You
- Essie – Marshmallow
- OPI – Lisbon Wants Moor OPI
- Top Coat – Sally Hansen Insta-Dri
I try to keep my bases covered with the nudes, reds and the perfect almost black nail color. For my nude category I have three favorites, a true nude(Wild Nude) a soft pink(Lisbon Wants Moor OPI) and a white(Marshmallow). For my red category I have a summer red(Cajun Shrimp) that reads a little orange red, and a true red(My Wishlist Is You) that is a true bold red. I only need one almost black, the always stunning and cult followed Essie Licorice.
I like to wear the almost black on my fingers in the fall and winter, and on my toes in the spring and fall. I wear the true red in the fall and winter on my fingers, and the summer red in the summer/vacations on my fingers and toes. I wear the true nude on my fingers year round, the soft white on my fingers and toes in the summer, the soft pink I wear on my fingers in the spring and summer. I love these shades because they go with everything, chip very little and always look stylish and chic. I have been wearing the Sally Hanson Insta Dri top coat for YEARS its better than any designer top coat and some gel top coats. If you take anything away from this blog post, take this top coat. Its such a find AND can be found at any drugstore or box store OR online.
Stay safe and healthy everyone! And if you feel inspired order a polish or two and give yourself a manicure!
