The warm weather we have been having lately has been glorious! We are grilling out, enjoying our patio and spending time outside as much as possible! Todays post is sponsored by Lane Bryant and is featuring Lane Bryant summer shorts and knit dresses.
Going BOLD
During the summer months I like to get a little bolder with my wardrobe, I reach for brighter prints and tend to throw on fun accessories. I am still a girl that is all about the layers, so I like to have a denim jacket or ruana wrap on hand to layer if needed. In this post I am featuring two bold red looks with different playful accessories mixed in. There is a sandal for every occasion, and this year the hottest trends in sandals are accessible heels in a print, pattern or texture. I styled each look with a fun heeled shoe, and added more depth through accessories. For the dress look I layered some LB enamel bangles on and left my ears bare. For the shorts look I went for a resin hoop earring and skipped a necklace or bracelet.
Knit Dresses and Shorts
In my previous blog post I shared summer ready fabrics, including cotton, linen and rayon. Each with their own cooling properties, in todays post I want to highlight the flexibility of a blended knit fabric. You get those cooling features + stretch. Knits are your friend in the summer because they BREATHE, allow air flow around your body and wick away moisture. Lane Bryant has a fantastic offering of knit dresses that are easy outfit makers!
Plus size shorts are hard to perfect, I know that many plus size women shy away from wearing shorts and today I am here to tell you to shop an actual plus brand for plus size shorts. Lane Bryant has perfected the fit of their shorts, from the length to the rise showing a little leg is much easier in shorts made for a plus body.
The Bold Knit Dress
I went with the Lipstick Red Crochet Yoke Fit & Flare Maxi Dress, I wanted this dress to fit a little more like a midi so I actually ordered it in a size up in PETITE. Pro tip, if you want less length on an item without having to alter it, size up one from your regular size and get petite. Knit dresses are inherently casual, and I wanted to dress this look up so I added a snake print sandal, bangle bracelet and a white ruana wrap. I love how this look has a little more going on, and how you can switch and swap these pieces to create different looks! This dress actual comes in three different colors, a sienna/burnt red, lipstick red and a black. The crochet yoke keeps you from needing a necklace or big earrings. There are some thoughtful details that make this specific dress special, like the flattering scoop hemline, and the extra coverage near the armpit.

Who Wears Short Shorts?
A couple of weeks ago I styled a red gingham top from Lane Bryant and fell in LOVE! When I saw these shorts on the website I knew that I wanted to give them a try. I followed my long standing shorts rule and sized up in these, and honestly they were comfortable but I could have taken my usual size. I kept it light and bright with white tank top, and some textured black heel sandals. For a little extra something, I wore a denim jacket as well. Michigan summers are cool in the morning and at night, so I always have a denim jacket around. Lets talk about wearing statement shorts for a minute. Shorts come in so many different patterns and styles these days, and its super fun to get a pair that really matches your personality. When styling statement shorts always remember the FIT and style down the rest of your look. Let your adorable bottoms be the star of the show!
