Today on the blog I am sharing a super fun post with my blogger bestie Liz from the blog With Wonder and Whimsy. In August Liz and I traveled to Chicago for the Midwest Curvy Fashion Conference. While we were in town we hit up the magnificent mile for a little shopping. Shopping is something that Liz and I both loveeeee doing, and to be honest we shop together quite a bit. BUT there is just something special about shopping in a big city, last summer we shopped 5th Avenue in New York. We went in Bergdorf Goodman and had lunch, then shopped for accessories around the store. We both left with a little something special, and the memory of shopping in such a historic and fashionable locale. When the opportunity came up this August to go to Chicago for a few days we took it! Shopping the Magnificent Mile is fun and so different from shopping here at home or in NYC.
We went in and out of our favorite stores, and ended up (no surprise) in Louis Vuitton. If you have been following along for awhile then you already know that I LOVE Louis Vuitton, I have loved LV since I was 13 or so, and used to carry a FAKE LV backpack in High School lol. When I became of age, I started asking for these bags as gifts, and then saving my money to develop my own collection. I have quite a few pieces and each year I add a little something.
Friendship Scarves
We went into LV with the intention of just wandering around(not purchasing anything) and checking out their offerings for Fall. Then we landed at the Bandeau counter, and like every time I go into LV I ended up with 10 different items on the counter. We shopped and played AND both ended up buying scarves. It wasn’t until we got back to our room did we realize that we had picked the same bandeau just in “Our” colors. Liz with creams and pinks. And me with black and white. 🙂 It was then that we knew we needed to share a BFF post with you and style our “matching” items. Its only fitting that we would have matching Louis Vuitton Bandeaus as our BFF pieces, our unique friendship, and our special bond has made this little souvenir so special to me.
In the time I have known Liz, my world has so drastically changed. She helped me take Curls and Contours from a hobby to a career, and has always helped me set my sights on the future. I have never met anyone that is so creative and driven, its infectious to be around and has truly made me a better creative, business person, and boss lady. Adult friendships are really hard, and meeting someone as an adult and choosing to invest yourself into that friendship is even harder. And here is the crazy thing, Liz and I were invested in each other from the moment we met. I have had the pleasure of watching her take her brand and launch it into a full fledged movement, being her friend has made me want to elevate and add a touch of whimsy to everything in my life. Fate truly intervened when we met, and I am so lucky to know her. Ok so now that I am crying. Lets try to get back to the fashion. lol.
We thought it would be fun to share three different ways to style a silk scarf or bandeau or twilly or whatev.
Three Ways to tie your Louis Vuitton Bandeau
One on your bag –
The easiest(in my opinion) way to style your scarf is to just tie that baby onto your favorite handbag. I am a Louis Vuitton monogram canvas girl, which equates to dark brown and black. This timeless style is great, and looks especially good with a brightly colored scarf. Most of the time I just wrap the scarf around into a bow, on my bigger bags its fun to make different knots too!
Two around your neck –
Ok if we are being honest, this is a pretty easy way to style your scarf too. lol. I would say the only thing that makes this look a little harder is you need to match your scarf up with your outfit. I styled my scarf with a black moto jacket and black bodycon dress, I wanted the scarf to really pop and be the featured accessory of the look.
Three in your hair –
Ok, some serious With Wonder and Whimsy inspo went into this way of styling the scarf. Liz loves to style her scarf in her hair, she is always coming up with different ways to do it. SO I thought I would give it a try, but more my speed. I love how the LV scarf adds a touch of color to my hair without making the look too structured. I love styling my hair down and flowy, and the half up hair style is perfect for adding some fun without losing the unstructured look of my usual hair style.
