Its Friday Friday! Today on the blog I wanted to share a long overdue review of my Louis Vuitton Zippy Wallet. This wallet truly is the workhorse of my entire luxury collection, I use this piece EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. and have since I purchased it. So in todays post I decided to share more details about what makes this wallet great and what I wish was different. I feel like a wallet is a personal choice for every person, its the item that holds your personal items and every person likes their cards, cash and change held different ways.
Before I got the Zippy wallet I researched lots of options, and I originally intended on getting the Jeanne wallet, BUT you see this is want happens when you go into the Louis Vuitton store. EVERYTHING IS GORGEOUS, and it hard to keep your eye on exactly what you came in for. So after comparing them I ended up going with the Zippy. I loved the size, and pockets that the bigger Zippy wallet had to offer!
About the Louis Vuitton Zippy Wallet
The Louis Vuitton Zippy wallet is roughly 8in x 4in, I have found that its big enough to hold a cash flat out, this wallet has 12 credit card slots! It holds all my cards AND THEN SOME! There are seven slots in the wallet to hold items, cash, change, receipts etc.
Last year when I got the Zippy they were carrying it with a monogram tassel attached to the zipper. When I purchased the this piece I thought the tassel would soften and be a great addition. But after carrying and using this wallet for a year I wish that the tassel was not on the zipper pull. It never softened, and is a cumbersome addition to the wallet.
I have the Zippy in Monogram canvas and Rose Ballerine interior. The exterior is coated canvas, and the interior is leather. EVEN AFTER A YEAR of use it still smells like leather when you open the wallet. There are lots of differing opinions on whether or not you should actually put coins in the coin pouch, because of the dirt and grime on coins. This rubs off and dirties the inside of the coin area and some people believe it lessens the value of the wallet. I knew that I would be keeping this piece, so opted to put my coins in the designated area.
After a year of carrying this wallet carefully and gently it is showing signs of wear and tear. The Rose Ballerine zipper area shows marking on the corners, and the light pink wrap on the tassel has rub marks from being stored next to the zipper in my purse. Ultimately I do wish that I had gotten a darker color of the interior, and a classic zippy without the tassel. After discussing this with my local SA, they offered to remove the tassel and install a regular zipper pull. I plan on having this done AFTER I get the edges reglazed.
If you love the shape of this wallet but not the price point check out these great options!
When I was researching this LV piece, I couldn’t find much in comparison photos, so I thought I would share how the Zippy measures up to other similar sized LV pieces. Pictured above is the Zippy Wallet, GM Neverfull Pouchette, and my Favorite MM. My zippy fits easily in the Favorite MM, with room for a lipstick and phone. It will not fit into my Neverfull Pouchette but I believe that has something to do with envelope quality of the pouchette.
*They don’t carry the Zippy with the tassel anymore so I am linking up the wallet as it is sold now.
