I can NOT believe that November is here, we have made it through Halloween and the coldest part of the autumn is settling in around us. For me this time of year is still considered fall, its the time when the trees are really letting go of their leaves and things are really starting to get cozy. And right now cozy feels good, its fun to play outside and then turn in for the evening or wake up early(hi I have a newborn) and drink coffee and cuddle. This time of year fall takes a turn towards winter and its welcome and wanted, for me these are the feelings I want my Thanksgiving to embody. Cozy, casual and distinctly autumn, today on the blog I am sharing a glimpse into a casual, earthy Thanksgiving in my fieldstone home.
Our Shopping Mission
A couple of weeks ago Liz from the blog With Wonder and Whimsy and I took to Twelve Oaks Mall on a mission to set our Thanksgiving tables. We took over the malls Instagram account and shared our finds, how we were shopping and what was inspiring us for Thanksgiving. You can see all of the stories over on the Twelve Oaks Mall Instagram account. While doing the takeover we also shopped for our own Thanksgiving tables, Liz and I have such different tastes AND totally different homes we knew it would be fun to shop and help each other decorate.
Twelve Oaks Mall has been my go to for higher end decor for YEARS, I love the quality of products at Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma and Sur La Table. Having all of these stores so accessible to me at Twelve Oaks is such a blessing, and being able to shop for the best dishes and top of the line cookware in store is AWESOME. When it comes time for me to add new dishes, or I am looking to pick up something new for my kitchen I head to Twelve Oaks first. My current dishes are from Pottery Barn, I picked them up at Twelve Oaks three years ago! I love that when I am ready to add to my dish collection I can pop into PB and grab some more bowls or an extra serving dish.
Setting My Thanksgiving Table
This brings me to the styling behind my Thanksgiving table, Keith and I are casual people. We do not own special china, we never registered for crystal glassware and for us the best meals are served at the island or on the couch with a movie and our little dude in his dock-A-tot between us. So when I started putting together my Thanksgiving decor I knew that I wanted pieces that I could use over and over and mix in season after season. High quality things that would stand the test of time and classic styling that I could mix in as my tastes change. Each piece that I pulled to decorate my table has multiple uses, I picked up two Thanksgiving specific pieces that I will pull out for the season and for the day and the rest will be added to my regular rotation of party and hosting decor.
Lets break down the pieces I picked up from Twelve Oaks for this tablescape.
- Round Wood Block Cheese Board – Pottery Barn
- Cambria Dishes – Pottery Barn
- Porcelain Turkey Dish – Pottery Barn
- Thankful Cloth Napkins – Pottery Barn
- Wood Napkin Rings – Sur La Table
- Pillar Candles – Pottery Barn
- Glass Pitcher – Pottery Barn
The Dessert Bar Cart
Liz is always styling her bar cart in unique and fun ways, for my Thanksgiving table I was inspired to design a dessert bar cart from her! Growing up my grandpa always made the pies for Thanksgiving, he usually made a few (pumpkin, apple and cherry) so for my casual home dessert bar I made an apple pie. Now I know what you might be thinking, yes I have a tiny baby. So I turned to Williams Sonoma at Twelve Oaks to help me pull off a gourmet pie with half the time. For my second dessert I decided to go with autumn themed sugar cookies, and again I called on Williams Sonoma to help me. I utilized their “Impression Autumn Cookie Cutters” to craft some fun sugar cookies that my husband LOVED :).
Lets break down the pieces that I picked up from Twelve Oaks for my dessert bar cart.
- Emile Henry Deep Ruffled Pie Dish – Williams Sonoma
- Fall Pine Cone Decor – Sur La Table
- Stone Serving Tray – Sur La Table
- Fall Cookie Cutouts – Williams Sonoma
- Apple Pie Starter – Williams Sonoma
The FOOD!
What would Thanksgiving be without the TURKEY, and accompanying sides. We struggled to track down a turkey in late October, but I insisted because I wanted to try out the Williams Sonoma Turkey Brine Kit! Adding these gourmet touches to my meal really takes it to the next level, being able to talk to and shop with a Williams Sonoma sales associate also made it easy for this mama to pull off a fancier Thanksgiving meal. I laid out this Thanksgiving meal buffet style, and utilized my collection of white serving dishes, I pick up a piece here and there when I am hosting or decorating a party.

Thanksgiving is a time when families big and small can gather and enjoy the memories the year has made.
