Pink as a Neutral. This post contains affiliate links. To read more about my luxury handbags go HERE.
How is it Monday again already! In todays post I am sharing a little style evolution with all of you, AND a beautiful dress from Julia Engal’s Gal Meets Glam collection. I have styled the Margie Tie Waist dress one time prior, and took it in a totally different direction (see that HERE). With a leather moto, and a black strap sandal I decided to add some edge to this decidedly sweet midi dress. But when I went to wear it again for a family function I opted to take the look in a different direction.
And that got me thinking. About pink as a neutral.
My skin-tone is VERY pale with pink undertones, sometimes pink on me can look like the color of my skin or to close to it, so for years I avoided it. Light pink warm toned garments just weren’t for me, because I would look “washed out” or pasty. And because as a plus size woman I have to buy most of my clothing online, I never gave myself the opportunity to try out “light pink”. ย I didn’t want to waste the money on a color that I thought wouldn’t work for me.

I happened to be in a Nordstrom when the Gal Meets Glam collection came out, I was looking through the racks of items and found this Margie dress. I had scoped the dress out online but had opted for the navy version because duh the light pink just wouldn’t work on me. Well they didn’t have the navy in store but they had my size in store, so I thought I would try it out just for sizing. And boy was I surprised at how well this color worked. So much so that I left with the dress that day! When I think of neutral colors pink is not something that comes to mind, I go towards nude, tan, white or even black. But I would like to officially add light pink to my list of neutral colors that go well with my skin tone. ๐
This is the Margie Tie Waist Satin Midi Dress, from the Gal Meets Glam collection. I am wearing the size 16, and this dress runs LARGE. I like the fit but could have probably gone with a 14, for a more fitted look across the bust. This garment is fully lined and is satin so it has some weight. I love the shawl collar and tie at the waist(this is faux, the actual waist is elastic). Now that I have styled this piece a couple of times dressy I plan on wearing it again but casual, with denim jacket and some slides.
What is a neutral color that works for you?ย

You look absolutely stunning in that dress and in that color. Good girl, for trying something new. It always amazes me when I try something on and it looks so much better than it did on the rack. I think that is why it is so important to try a lot of things on. You never know, what you will end up with. You picked a winner with this dress! – Amy

I love this dress! The color really suits your skin tone. Are you wearing a shaper underneath? I always wear mine underneath light clothes. It never rolls down. Check out their website: http://www.hookedupshapewear.com

Hi Sarah! I am not wearing a shape wear with this dress. It is fully lined, I really only wear shape wear with bodycon silhouettes. I have found that I feel most confident when I am comfortable. ๐
