Its hard to believe that we are in the last week of September, and this past week I went to the mall for the first time since February of 2020! Liz from the blog With Wonder and Whimsy and I went for a girls fall shopping day, we took over the Twelve Oaks Mall Instagram and shared our finds, from home decor to an outfit we had a blast shopping for a couple of hours. Afterwards we grabbed some lunch and a hard cider at Sedona Taphouse in the mall, and before we each left for the day we stopped to get something from curbside pickup. Twelve Oaks Mall has been ON IT, working to keep patrons and staff safe during these unprecedented times that includes adapting mall hours AND more and more businesses offer curbside pickup!
In todays blog post I am sharing the autumn outfit that I styled from pieces that I picked up at Twelve Oaks, the outfit I am sharing I got from Curbside pickup at Nordstrom AND was an impulse buy inside the mall. For me, this outfit is the perfect blend of our new way of life meaning one of the pieces I planned and purchased through curbside pickup and one of the pieces I just loved and wanted while we were shopping. I wanted to style a look that was comfortable and could be mixed and matched with so many other pieces in my closet. I feel like all of us are staying home so much more, when I do have the chance to go out I want to dress up and have some fun with my outfits.
For many(including me) fall is the best fashion season, the cooler temps allow for layering up but its not so cold that you cant enjoy the weather. Twelve Oaks Mall was ready for fall shoppers with lots of products and displays. I always enjoy walking and perusing store fronts when I am at the mall, its a great place to get inspiration!
Twelve Oaks Mall is one of my personal favorite places to shop for everything from baby stuff, clothing, home decor and gifts. I have blogged about Twelve Oaks Mall quite a bit you can read those posts HERE and HERE.
The pieces I purchased from Twelve Oaks Mall are from H&M, and from Free People(Nordstrom). Both of the items I picked up are from the main range of the respective stores, there are lots of brands that produce clothing that fits a plus size body but may not necessarily be plus size. I am a solid size 16 and I consistantly wear a size XL at H&M, the skirt I grabbed is a deep navy. I went into the store with sweater I had ordered in mind, I wanted something that I could wear with it for a cozy fall outfit. H&M had quite a few options available in store and with the help of Liz(it was SO NICE TO SHOP WITH A FRIEND) I decided on the navy. I don’t have a navy skirt so this one makes a great addition to my closet!
The night before my trip I placed a curbside pickup order at Nordstrom for the sweater I am wearing in this post, I wanted to test out their new feature and just check out what they had to offer online. I found that the Nordstrom at Twelve Oaks has quite a few Free People sweaters in stock, this is a brand that historically runs way way generous. Nordstrom at Twelve Oaks has a decent plus size offering but there is just something so cozy and fall about a Free People sweater. I got this one in a Medium and its still a bit big, but its just right for wearing with a skirt or with leggings. I paired this skirt and sweater with a pair of B.P. sunglasses also from Nordstrom and some cognac booties as well as one of my all time favorite LV bags. I like to think this look is something Serena Van der Woodson would wear :).
These days going anywhere feels like you are going OUT, its been fun to get dressed up for everyday things like going to the mall with a girlfriend or catching a dinner on the patio with your partner. Just because we are staying home more it doesn’t mean we cant dress to feel good, at some point I stopped dressing exclusively in leggings and got back to wearing outfits that I love. Skirts, sweaters, dresses and jeans are all pieces that I will continue to wear because I feel beautiful when I am wearing them.
Shopping in person gives us a reason to go out and support places like the mall, these are city centers that keep many in our communities working, they are places we can shop, enjoy the company of a dear friend and spend time safely in our community. I cant wait to head back to Twelve Oaks to shop this holiday.
