Well here we are, at the end of October. We are getting ready for a socially distanced halloween and the temperatures here in Michigan continue to dip lower and lower! I find myself wanting to layer up, and that means its time to get into my collection of basics. You know, basics the workhorses in your wardrobe. This year I have upped my basics game with the help of skinnytees, this women founded and run brand that is also in MICHIGAN is the keeper of high end, ultra stretchy pieces that are meant for being comfy and layered all fall and winter long!

Lets talk skinnytees
One of my favorite parts of blogging is being able to bring you new brands that are working in the plus size industry and creating amazing pieces to wear and love, skinnytees does just that. You can shop two different size ranges at skinnytees, they are company that is one size with their plus pieces fitting up to a 4X! Its important to the skinnytees team that every piece they carry in straight sizes also exists in plus sizes, I love that and I love all of the options available. Over on my Instagram I am sharing a try on haul of skinnytees tops and over pieces, and in todays blog I am featuring the control top tights, and long sleeve tee. Both in black and a fantastic base for skirts, I wanted to pair them with something that would really show off the versatility of these pieces so I went with a plaid mini. Often times in the fall and winter, we miss out on wearing skirts and dresses because of the cold. BUT thats not an issue when you have got great basics!
A quality pair of matte black tights is essential for Midwest fall and winters, these are footless so you can layer on thick socks if needed. They have a thick band around the waist that provides extra support as well. Now, skinnytees makes this specific long sleeve scoop top in NINE colors, this top has excellent length, is stretchy and super soft. Made in the signature skinnytees fabric, you get slight compression + smoothing but not that feel of shape wear, the feel is like a pair of compression leggings, its not tight, its just right. I would love to style this top with a longer black skirt and then layer a statement coat over the top, because of the unique skinnytees fabric I will have the breathability and ease of movement to carry it off!
I feel like so often women will invest in statement pieces of clothing in their wardrobe and then forget the rest of the outfit, having high quality basics to back up your statement pieces is what gives a look true style. We all need those layering pieces in our wardrobe, to fill it out in the places that are so often missed. When I spend my money to invest in something of high quality, I want it to really make me feel confident and secure. I want the pieces to be created by women and for women, I love that my skinnytees are just that.

Anne, I love my layering pieces. This tee looks great and those footless tights are fabulous. Would you mind telling me what size you get in those. I have been looking for some heavy weight tights that I can wear with skirts, but so often they are two small. I typically wear a 12-14 in pants. Thanks for sharing. – Amy
