Today on the blog I am sharing a fun western themed look that I put together with Simply Be! When I was putting together this post I thought I would mix in some photos of my horses because its a theme right? 🙂
The western trend has arrived for plus size babes, and its fun to see how different lines and brands are drawing inspiration from out west. I have an extra interest in this trend because part of my life falls under that “Western” theme, in fact I own two western saddles myself LOL. If you are new here then you don’t know that I participate in the western lifestyle on the regular, I own a Tennessee Walking Horse named Callie that I ride western. Horses have been a part of my life since I was a baby, and Callie has been my preferred ride of choice for 10 years. 🙂 Don’t ask me how many belt buckles I own with my name on them. LOL.
Lets get back to talking western trends. This trend first started being seen through embroidery on t-shirts, and button downs. But now you can find brands fully investing in this western trend by styling looks with dresses, fringe, silver belts and floral embroidery. Just like most of the plus size fashion industry we usually get stuff in our sizes after a season or so. I have been patiently waiting for western belts to start coming in plus. SO when Simply Be reached out to me wanting to collaborate again this month I took the opportunity to order a “western” outfit.
The Deal
The look
This white cotton dress has black embroidery and fun eyelets, its SHORT. I dont recommend this dress for my tall babes. I love the black embroidery and it really makes this dress POP. The black tassels are accented with silver sequins(which I love). I kept it modern with a bold red lip, and my favorite strap sandals(from Target). I had planned on styling this dress with my leopard bag but ended up just photographing it sans purse.
I have some INSANE belts and buckles from my horse showing days, but I didn’t have a western belt that was “fashion” ready. I sized up with this belt but I suggest going true to size, I had to knot it in the back for these pictures so it would fit properly. I have worn this dress with this dress AND with some jeans and a tee. I love it equally on both pieces. Its just a fun and trendy piece to have for accessorizing.
Have you tried any “Western” trend items yet? 🙂
