Happy Monday!! Today on the blog I am sharing more details from my Instagram takeover with Avenue! If you didn’t watch the stories, make sure to pop over to the Aveplus IG and check out their highlights. My takeover is there for you to check out. If you did catch the stories, then you already know Keith and I loaded up the truck with a delicious lunch, and our swimsuits and tore off for a day at the lake! We packed stuff to grill, and some Rosé to share and spent the day napping in the sand and wading in the water.
If you are local then you already know that Michigan is the great lakes state. IF you are NOT local then let me inform you. Here in the Mitten state we have lakes EVERYWHERE, it is a fact that anywhere you stand in the state of Michigan you are within 6 miles of a body of water. So naturally we love to spend time at the lake, and us Michiganders are not picky. Whether its boating, or swimming we love to get out near the water and enjoy a summer day. So I teamed up with Avenue to share one of those perfect summer days, and how I style 3 Avenue looks for our summer staycation at the lake.
I thought I would frame each of part of the day around my outfits, I am wearing head to toe Avenue in each look, and each outfit coordinates with our activities. So lets get started.
Picnic in the park
Keith and I were starting our day with a picnic in the park that borders the lake, so I picked a lightweight summer maxi, and some slide on sandals both from Avenue! The fabric of this Embroidered Bodice Maxi is a gauzy fabric that is super breathable and really easy to wear, I hit this dress with the steamer really quick before I put it on and it stayed wrinkle free the whole day. I love this dress for its versatility and ease of wear, it went great with my black sandals, and no jacket. But I can easily see myself wearing this piece with a jean jacket and some wedges for a date night look.
I knew that we would be trekking from the car, and then hanging around the park, so I wanted to get a comfy flat shoe that was easy to get on and off but still on trend for summer. I read the reviews on the sandals and knew to size up, which was a perfect fit. The Stevie Double Buckle Slide comes in two different colors, a rose gold, and then a black. I opted for the black pair so I could get all match with my monochrome looks for the day.
Keith and I try really hard to stay away from paper items that can not be recycled, and years ago we eliminated paper towel from our home. So we packed some of our regular dishes and some cloth napkins to have at the park. It was fun because it looked so fancy, and also we had very little waste!
Headed to the Beach
Coverup | Swimsuit | Hat | Sandals
After lunch we packed up and headed towards the beach. I changed from my maxi dress and slides into an easy Avenue swim look, a coverup, one pieces suit AND a sun hat with some flip flops. When I was selecting the pieces that would make up this swim look I knew I wanted to style pieces that would play into the black and white theme I had running for this day. I found that Avenue had a HUGE variety of swim suits(mine is the Twist Front One Piece) that would suit my needs, and when my suit did come in the mail it was true to size and very comfortable.
Keith and I were feeling all the camp nostalgic vibes as we checked out the beach area at the lake, from the colorful life vest stand to the kayaks and paddle boards. It was so fun to see all the fun being had. We hung out and napped in the sun for awhile, and just relaxed at the beach listening to all the kids playing and fun being had. I was cool and comfortable with my swim coverup on and honestly I felt covered even though the fabric is see through. My exact coverup is sold out but I linked a similar one for you to shop.
I am not a big jewelry girl, and usually only wear my wedding rings, so it was fun to play with accessories in other ways. My black and white sun visor was perfect for shading my face(and matching my outfit). And my flip flops had just a touch of sparkle across the top of my foot.
out to dinner
Maxi Dress | Earrings | Heels
Once we got good and hot from the sun, and had a good swim(and a popsicle lol) we decided to pack up and head home. We unpacked and watched a movie, and then got ready for dinner. I try not to play favorites with my clothes, I really really try to love them all equally and wear everything in my closet. BUT I have to be completely honest about this look. I AM OBSESSED WITH IT. From the dress to my shoes, this is a very summertime glam look. This Floral Wrap Tie Dress is perfect for the summer months. The fabric is so lightweight and easy to wear, I did not even have to steam this dress. I pulled it right out of the box and was good to go.
I styled this dress with a simple silver earring and a bold lip(my go to date night look). I will say that this maxi has some stretch and was a little big in the bodice, so consider sizing down. AND this is a SPANX free look, so I was extra comfortable and cool.
Before I ordered these Emma Studded Buckle Heels I read the reviews, a few of the curvy fashionista felt that the heel was to tall for them(3 inch) and let me put those fears to rest. This heel is so comfortable and easy to wear, we parked a good distance from the restaurant and I walked with ease through downtown. I plan on wearing these with jeans, and a cute top for a different take on a date night look!
Have you ever done a staycation weekend? Keith and I plan on doing this more now that we know how fun it it is!!
