Full Figured Fashion Week Outfit Roundup

What I wore to Full Figured Fashion Week Events

Hi lovelies! I am formatting this post a little different than my usual posts. I wanted to share the FFFWeek events that Liz( and I chose to attend and what I wore to each event. If you are thinking of attending next year, I want to give a little bit of advice. When picking your outfits for each event just do you. Now that I am home I can say that I probably over thought it. Next time I attend, I will just do me and dress in pieces that make me feel my most confident and comfortable.

FFFWeek Kick Off Event

Dress | Shoes | Bag | Sunglasses

For the first event of the week, I chose to go with a flowy maxi from ASOS. I love the unique color combo for summer, and the pleated skirt. The kickoff event was held at a loft in SoHo in this sweet neighborhood lined with Italian restaurants and pretty store fronts. We had small bites and wine at the event, and got to meet up with other bloggers and influencers.

After the event Liz and I headed across the street to this TINY Italian place for some authentic Italian food. Don’t ask me the name of the place because I honestly have no idea. LOL

Fit For Me Influencer Event

Skirt | Top(Similar) | Bag | Shoes | Earrings

I received an invitation to the Fit For Me influencer event, and I STRUGGLED to pick an outfit. At the last minute I made a switch to my Society Plus Midington skirt, with a a lace crop top. This event was really fun, they had makeup touch ups, a runway event, and cocktails. Everyone was dressed in their signature style, and I was having my “Carrie Bradshaw” moment(full skirt, fancy bag, sky high heels).

Afterwards a bunch of us bloggers went for dinner, it was so fun to sit with 7 other women and just talk about the industry, our blogs, and our businesses. I felt like a “Real blogger” during dinner, this just fuels my fire to continue my work towards full time self employment.

I have a full recap of my experiences at the White Cruise, you can find that here.

Would I attend Full Figured Fashion Week again?

This year, Liz and I chose to attend the first half of the event. We had never attended before and didn’t know that the last half of the event is really where its at for bloggers and influencers. I would attend again, but for the last half of the event. Probably from Wednesday – Saturday. I am hoping to attend the Curvy Conference in NYC, and the upcoming Chicago Curvy Girl Conference!

I also have an outfit roundup up that is strictly my “off the clock” pieces that I wore touring around town, and to non FFFWeek events. That can be found here.

Curves At Sea Cruise with Kiyonna

Dress | Shoes | Bag | Bracelet | Sunglasses

I have been reading about the FFFWeek Curves at Sea Cruise for years, and this year I was actually able to attend! It was everything I thought it would be, from the Fashion to the Dance floor. I know this is super dorky but I really had so much fun seeing the city by boat, typical Anne…Everyone is out on the dance floor and I am staring starry eyed at the statue of liberty. lol

I knew months ago that I wanted to wear the Bianca Ruched Dress to the Curves at Sea party, the Bianca dress is ruched from the bodice down and is meant to be fitted, the draping across the shoulders provides some coverage and adds a little peekaboo effect along the neckline. Bodycon silhouettes are a style that I love and find empowering, what I like about this dress is that it offers support, so minimal to no spanx are needed.

This dress in white would be perfect for a bride at a bachelorette party, the color and style is perfect for a brides night out. Currently the Bianca Ruched Dress is available in raspberry, black and porcelain. At Kiyonna I usually wear a size one, I opted to size up because of the shape of the dress, and I am glad I did. The size two was a perfect fit. Liz and I had shopped earlier in the day, I picked up the spiked gold bracelet to add some edge to the look. I wore some strappy block heeled sandals, and carried my favorite Clare V. clutch. My feet were good all night long, but as soon as we got off the boat at 11 I could barely walk lol.

Details if you are thinking about going on the FFFWeek Curves at Sea Cruise

We boarded the yacht at 6:30pm and left the dock at 8pm, the boat took us around Manhattan and then back to the harbor at 11pm. There was music, a fashion show, cash bar(two mixed drinks averaged about 30 dollars), and dinner. I paid around 100 dollars for my ticket.  The clear style most women wore was tight white dresses, some of the best looks of the night did not follow that idea. So if you are thinking of going next year, rock your own style. Reach for a piece that will make you happy!

NYC Outfit Roundup

Its been a week since I got home from NYC, it was a fabulous trip. Liz( and I went to Full Figured Fashion Week and had a wonderful time. We packed in as much as we could in 5 days, from FFFWeek events, to searching out Instagram food we tried to fit as much in as possible.

I have soo many NYC posts planned but wanted to start with what I wore when we were “sightseeing” and not attending any events. A couple of the photos are iPhone pics, sorry about the quality.

Jacket | Leggings | Shoes | Bag

On Saturday we arrived in the city super early and couldn’t get checked in until 1pm so Liz and I dropped our bags at the hotel and decided to have a no camera day. Just take our phones and go to the MET. I wore this look on the plane and then most of the day Saturday. I love to travel in leggings and sneakers, I usually wear a jacket because sometimes I like to cuddle up in my jacket or it gets chilly.

Skirt | Top | Shoes | Earrings(similar) | Sunglasses

I wore this look to dinner on Saturday, something comfy and chill. Our flight was at 6am, so Saturday evening we were in bed by 9. LOL.

Top | Skirt | Shoes

This outfit I packed specifically for our Bergdorfs shopping day. I wanted a comfy but dressier summer look that was still my style. We had brunch at Bergdorfs over looking the park. IT was AMAZING, Liz and I each picked up a little designer something at this iconic store. Much to Keiths dismay I picked up a Hermes Twilly, a perfect little addition to my growing LV collection. Also my first piece from Hermes.

Top | Denim | Shoes | Bag

Liz and I grabbed some gourmet Tacos, Margaritas, and 18 dollar Guacamole at a little Mexican place in our neighborhood. I love this look for going out, ripped skinnies, a statement top and some heels. A basic combination that WILL ALWAYS BE CHIC. And is my go to outfit for going out.

Top | Skirt | Bag

We didn’t get any proper photos of this adorable look. So I put together a few photos so you can get a better idea of how this look worked.

I wore my White Anne Lace Skirt showroom hopping(and instagram food eating) on Tuesday, it was soooooooo freaking hot in NYC while we were there. This look felt fresh and summery.

Dress | Shoes | Bag

Wednesday we ventured to Brooklyn to visit some boutiques and have lunch under the Bridge. I wore my new favorite dress from Universal Standard. Truth time- I got this dress a week ago and have worn it 4 times already. Its so chic, and easy to wear. I need every color.

We went home on Thursday, and I wore basically the same travel outfit.

Leggings | Tee | Jacket | Shoes

I left my FFFWeek event outfits out on purpose. I will be sharing those looks on the blog soon!

Packing With Style

Skirt | Shoes | Sunglasses

I am over the moon excited to be traveling to NYC in a couple of weeks, my blogger bestie Liz and I will be heading to Full Figured Fashion Week in June. The planning and packing that has gone into this trip is astounding, have I gone a little overboard. Possibly. Am I the curvy girl that wants it all? HELL YES! I thought for this post it would be fun to share my strategy for creating a capsule wardrobe for 5 days in NYC.

I haven’t been to New York since I was a little girl, going back for a fashion event in my twenties with a fellow fashionista really changes my packing game. From my research, reading and knowledge of travel I have narrowed down what needs to get in my suitcase. What I have been creating is called a Capsule Wardrobe.

Lets talk about that term “Capsule Wardrobe” a term that was created in the 1970’s by a London boutique owner, a capsule wardrobe is a minimal wardrobe composed of 30-40 pieces that will suit your needs for a given amount of time.

What I have enjoyed about creating this “capsule wardrobe” is the theme that flows through each piece. Each piece that I selected for the trip has something in common.

Rules for Anne’s NYC Capsule Wardrobe

1. Summer fabrics. I will be in NYC in June, it will be mid 70’s-80’s everyday. We will be walking a lot and shopping a bunch, everything I bring needs to be light breezy fabric.

2. Color Scheme. The color I centered my capsule wardrobe around was black. There are a couple of reasons this color is essential for my NYC wardrobe. I already own lots of black pieces, and in NYC black is always in season!

3. Comfort. I really can not function at my top level when I am feeling uncomfortable in what I am wearing, from my shoes to my undergarments. Everything has to be just right. I have gone a little bit crazy planning for this trip when it comes to comfort, I am just so concerned about getting there and being uncomfortable. I will make sure to link some of the unmentionables I purchased to go under dresses and skirts in an upcoming post.

4. The last part rule for my capsule wardrobe, centers around outfit planning for specific events. While we are at FFFWeek Liz and I will be attending different parties and events. Some of them with specific criteria for what you wear. I have been working hard to find pieces that can be worn to the different events we are attending, but will also work when I am back home AND could mix and match with other pieces while we are there. Its been tricky to find such specific pieces. Oh and we can’t forget these event specific outfits must follow rules 1,2,and 3. I have ordered and then returned some items.

I am linking some of the articles I have been reading to help me prepare for NYC dressing in this post, I am SOOOOO glad that blogs exist. I would be lost without some of these posts.

I was so blessed to be able to attend the Faster Horses Festival in Brooklyn Michigan this month. Faster Horses Festival is a 3 day event held at the Michigan International Speedway, live music is played on multiple stages and there is tons to to do, from eating and drinking to games and carnival rides. I am so lucky to be able to attend with one of my best friends(Hi Lindsay!! xoxo), she works for radio and takes me to help her each year with backstage stuff(I KNOW RIGHT!). Each year the struggle is REAL when it comes to what to wear. The first year I attended it was so freaking hot that we melted, there was absolutely no way to look cute. Then the past two years we had some station t-shirts to wear, so outfit choices were pretty limited to what goes with a unisex crew neck t-shirt. But this year we just happened to have the perfect weather, AND no dress code. HELLO curvy girl festival style. I went with leggings and swing dresses, I spiced it up accessories and comfy footwear(classic Anne move there) lol.

My go to rule for festival dressing is to start with footwear and work your way up. When my feet are uncomfortable I can’t enjoy myself, so any outfit I put together for long days on my feet have to be soo comfortable. And real talk here I wore my Chacos the first day and I got a real great blister so eff that. I decided to go for sneakers for the rest of the weekend. I wanted to have layers for when the sun went down, or a breeze picked up but I didn’t want to carry anything around with me, so I went with a light layer that I could tie around my waist(which is great for giving you a defined waist btw). In my dream world I would have had some Rag and Bone booties to wear but I made do with my sneakers.

Lets review-

When dressing for a festival here are some tips.

  1. Comfortable footwear required
  2. Sun Protection(sunscreen, hat etc…)
  3. Light layers
  4. Statement accessories(think sunglasses, and big earrings)
  5. Everything you wear has to be quality enough to take on the festival year after year OR cheap enough for a one time wear. Invest or go cheap, spending money on in between stuff is going to leave you with more money gone and all your stuff ruined. Ask me how I know that little tip LOL. 🙂

In Heaven Its Fall All the Time

Have you seen the colors, I mean its so beautiful and inspiring. I had to stop and snap some photos today of my favorite town. The colors are so vibrant its hard to look away. I happen to be wearing my favorite coatigan today that I have talked about before on Curls and Contours, but it sold out. Boo. I am attaching some options for you to get a similar look.

Coatigan Options-

  1. Colorblocked Coatigan
  2. Side Slit Duster
  3. Star Print
  4. Melissa McCarthy Snowflake

In the fall you can not go wrong with this simple outfit formula- boots, skinny pants, chambray, cardigan, scarf. Its THAT SIMPLE. So trendy and chic and effortlessly comfortable.

Don’t you just want a mug of warm apple cider, and a big chunky scarf when you look at these photos? All the feels.

Michigan Wine Trail

On Saturday the hubby and I headed out for an adventure around Southern Michigan. The Mitten State has become increasingly popular in recent years for wineries. They are popping up everywhere! We live just west of Ann Arbor, near the popular southern Michigan wine trail. To celebrate our anniversary this year Keith and I decided to tour some wineries in our area. We had a blast, bought way to much wine and and ate way to much cheese.

Here is breakdown of our Pioneer Wine Trail Experience!

First stop! J Trees Winery in Tecumseh Michigan, this beautiful Cidery and Winery is located in the restored Hayden Mill in Tecumseh. I loved their Frazzle sparkling Rosé! I loved the atmosphere and decor of this location, it was light and airy with lots of photographs and fantastic light fixtures. The bar was bright and felt fresh and trendy.

Next! Flying Otter Winery in Adrian Michigan, this beautiful all outdoor space had fantastic views and great atmosphere! I fell in love with their Apple Pie Dessert wine, and Keith loved the Chancellor table red. We were able to walk around amongst the grapes a bit before taking off for the next spot.

NEXT! We traveled over to Brooklyn Michigan home of The Michigan International Speedway to visit Cherry Creek Winery. This place was beyond cool, located in a restored one room schoolhouse. This Winery also had live music, a great patio and THE BEST Lambrusco I have ever had! After the tasting we just hung out and listened to music on the patio for awhile.

Our next stop was Lone Oak Vineyard Estate in Grass Lake Michigan! What was neat about this winery, was that it was an Estate winery, meaning the only grapes used to create the wine were grown on the property.

Our last stop of the day was The Sand Hill Crane Vineyard. The favorite from our first wedding anniversary. Keith and I picked a wine from this vineyard on our first anniversary that we plan on opening on our 10 year anniversary. This year at Sand Hill Crane we purchased a Maple Syrup wine that will knock your socks off, aptly named Annie’s Mapleshine, and a Apple Crisp wine that you serve warm that is simply delicious.

We had planned to end the day with an elegant dinner somewhere BUT someone (that would be me) had a little too much wine, so we ordered greek salads from takeout and relaxed at home with some Criminal Minds and WATER. lol

Country Roads

Have you ever just taken a drive and turned up somewhere that took your breath away? My husband and I love to take drives, we talk and wander down country roads just taking in the sights. This past Saturday we came across the most beautiful spot, we just had to stop and take some photos.

What is it about a well made flannel that just seems right? Just like with most clothing not all flannels are created equal. You can get them anywhere, but a quality flannel is SO WORTH IT. Ralph Lauren is the premier Americana clothing brand. I am a big Ralph Lauren fan, everything is quality and feels like the perfect mix of luxury and rustic utility.

This beautiful spot is in Chelsea, Michigan, I am wearing Ralph Lauren, my favorite leopard scarf, and some leggings. Not seen in these photos are my Hunter boots, and my red rain coat.

Mixed Prints and Glamorous Campers.

HELL YES! I finally got to go to a Vintage Glamper show and Flea Market! I have this secret (ok not so secret) love for glampers (glamorous campers). I have been actively searching for an old crappy camper to redo into a fantastical girl camper, to take out on weekends and just be girly and sparkly in. You know drink Rosé, knit, and eat Meringues. A friend told me about this event happening just west of our place that was featuring vintage glampers and other girly fabulous vintage items. So OF COURSE we decided to go, and OF COURSE it was shitty weather. So I was able to break out my rain jacket, and blanket scarf…Can I get another HELL YES! I love my scarves.

I got so much inspiration from this event for my own glamper, it was seriously like Pinterest coming to life right before my eyes…SO AMAZING. Now my glamper fever is EVEN worse than it was before.

Catch up with me on Pinterest! I have an entire board all about my Pinterest obsessions.

An Evening with Mr. Bond

Friday evening wedding with the dapper Mr. Adams, we had a blast and I loved seeing my main squeeze all dressed up in a Tux. Because my hubby was IN the wedding and really dressing up I also took it to the next level and wore something a little on the dressier side.

Staying true to my love for discount designer duds, I shopped for my whole look(omit the sunnies) from TJ Maxx, Marshals, and Nordstrom Rack. My Halston Heritage bag, and my Vivienne Westwood sunnies have been on the blog before, BUT these shoes are NEW!!

Lace up heels are all the rage right now, and this pair is the perfect sassy neutral to go with pretty much any outfit you might want to pair it with. I plan on wearing these with skinny jeans, casual dresses, and a jumpsuit. So easy to wear and very comfortable, these shoes are SO trendy and sexy that you are going to get a million compliments on them. Seriously. One Million.

Here are some Lace Up heel options-

  1. Dolce Vita “Henlie”
  2. BCBGeneration Carnival Lace- Up
  3. Delman Darci Bootie
  4. Jessica Simpson Emerita Pump
  5. Nine West Angellica Bootie

If you are loving my dress here are some options-

  1. Paper Dolls Plus, Floral Appliqué Dress
  2. Paper Dolls Plus, Crochet Lace Pencil Dress
  3. Pizarro Nights, Embellished V-Nack A- Line Cocktail Dress
  4. Marina, V- Nack Lace Fit & Flare Dress
  5. London Times, Keyhole Detail Eyelet Shift Dress

This look works because I am mixing a classic dress with some sassy accessories. This is a simple and easy way to take your look from blah, to the party fashionista. I always cry at weddings ALWAYS.
