It has been way way to long since I last updated what beauty products I have been using. I had some time recently to shoot my current beauty products, and I thought I would share the products and some thoughts on each one! This is somewhat of a lengthy post with lots of product shots and info.
My makeup bag. I have used the Henri Bendel makeup bags for years, I have two canvas dopp kit bags and one leather “fancy” bag. I love the classic stripe on Bendel bags, and have ordered and shopped in store for mine. I have used the Centennial Stripe Cosmetic Clutch as both a makeup bag and a clutch. This particular bag is leather and of course great quality. My other two makeup bags are from the Dopp Kit line, they are canvas and feature a stiff zipper that props the bags open so you can really see to the bottom of the bag.
Foundation- Right now I am using two different foundations depending on what my day looks like. I have dry acne prone skin(I know thats weird).
On days when I am not shooting or attending work events or meetings I wear IT Cosmetics CC cream, I also wear this on vacation and in the summer. The SPF 50 is so worth it to protect my skin from the sun, I have found this foundation to not be as full coverage as other foundations so I only use it on days when I am not going full glam. I apply this particular foundation(on the recommendation of my hair stylist) with my fingers. I personally have found that 1.5 pumps of product covers my whole face and upper neck. IF I have left over product, I dabb it under my eyes for extra coverage. The tube photographed is my second one, I always say if I love it enough to buy it again its a good product for me.
On days when I am going full glam, I use Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation, I have found this matte liquid foundation to have the coverage and staying power I need for shooting looks, going out, meetings etc… I purchased my first bottle(the product pictured is my second bottle) this past fall and was hooked since then. The only reason I don’t use this as an everyday foundation is because I like to have SPF and other “good for your skin” properties. This foundation is FULL COVERAGE, I apply this foundation with a brush and blend it into my skin in a circular motion.
Concealer – Right now I am using the Tarte Shape Tape concealer. This product came as a recommendation to me from an Ulta sales associate. I apply this foundation under my eyes, down the center of my nose and on my chin. I blend this concealer out with a beauty blender AFTER I have applied my foundation. I will definitely be getting another bottle of this concealer when its done. I have found the product to be long lasting and soft on my skin.
Powder- Right now I am wearing the Laura Mercier Translucent powder. This is my second tub of this powder, I first purchased this in NYC last June. It was a recommendation from a Sephora sales associate, and I was so so with it. When the product ran out I was open to trying something different. So I purchased a compact of the Urban Decay Illuminizer Pressed Powder, and SERIOUSLY it was gone in 4 weeks, that is WAY WAY fast for a powder. SO I decided to switch back to the Laura Mercier powder and I haven’t looked back since. I use this powder under my eyes and then a light dusting all over my face.
Contouring – The Fenty Beauty Match Stix Trio was a total impulse purchase that I have been sooooo thankful for!! I had been looking for a stick bronzer and highlighter for contouring for awhile, I happened upon this set while shopping with a friend one day and just decided to go for it. I love that I can draw on my contour and highlight, I use a moist beauty blender to blend and blur. This set was my first product from Fenty, I have been so happy with them that I decided to purchase the Fenty Lip paint in uncensored. AND LET ME TELL YOU!!! This is THE LIPSTICK. If you love a good red lippy, you need to go straight to Sephora and get this lip paint. I purchased it to wear to a Prom charity event and have been wearing it non stop since.
Back to the trio. This set comes with a highlighter and concealer. I personally don’t really use the concealer, I like the Tarte better, but have used the concealer to blend with the contour stick. When I am going full glam I use the highlight stick on the apples of my cheeks for a little extra shine.
Blush and Highlight – The blush that I am currently using is from Mary Kay, its called Kind Heart and its pretty old LOL. I have been thinking about getting a Nars blush but haven’t acted on it yet. I really like the Mary Kay brand, my mother sold this makeup for pretty much my entire life, and this line was my first look into the beauty world. I searched around to try and find this blush to link up but its out of stock. So I will link the one that I plan on purchasing in the next few months.
My Becca highlighter has taken a beating and is broken, I repaired it once before with the alcohol trick and then it broke again. Because it was so expensive I refuse to throw it out. REFUSE. So I use it only when I am going full glam, and I just dabb my brush in the powder on the mirror. The shade I have is in Moonstone.
Brows – OK. Disclaimer. I have amazing brows naturally. So with that in mind I am sharing the cheapest item in my makeup bag. This product is only $9.99 and is commonly known as the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz dupe, I didn’t get it because of that LOL. This is my second tube and I have no plans on buying any other brow product LOL. This product goes on well, and stays put.
Mascara – As great as my brows are, my lashes are equally not great. I have searched the world over for the best all around mascara. I mean I have spent years looking for good mascaras. And this ladies is my second tube of Dior Pump N’ Volume mascara. I loveeeeee this stuff. The tube has little indentations on the bottom where you can squeeze the product onto the wand, that way you aren’t wasting product and you can truly build your mascara on. This product doesn’t flake, it is buildable so you can go major glam or just everyday. Its my favorite and I do not plan on getting other mascaras from here on out!
Eyeshadow – Right this minute I have more eye shadow in my possession than I have ever had ever. LOL . The Tartelette in bloom palette came into my life 6 or so months ago, I love the soft tones of this palette and the SMELL is amazing. And then three months ago I got on a roll at Ulta and scooped up the Lorac Pro palette(if you are an Ulta platinum member like me you understand). And after that I really just went off the rails in terms of eye shadows. Then two weeks ago I picked up this lightly used Lorac Pro Mega palette from a friend on Instagram. My favorite things about the Lorac shadows is the pigmentation of each shadow. The quality really speaks for itself, and I have found them to be long lasting and buildable.
Well that was the longest blog post ever LOL. Have a great week!

I just bought some L’Oreal True Match blush and it’s not half bad. It’s a little more pink than it looked online (it was an Amazon impulse purchase), but it’s just a light flush of color. I will not disclose the age of the blush that finally gave up and needed replacement.
I also am fortunate in the brow department, and I LOOOOOOVE the Maybelline Brow Drama eyebrow mascara. Requires exactly zero effort, lasts a while, comes in lots of colors.
Finally, I love the Urban Decay De-Slick pressed powder (FFS, I’m almost 44 and my skin has not received the message. I have the opposite problem as you: oily skin and wrinkles!). I just wish it came in a loose version. For some reason, I feel like loose powder works better. Almay actually makes a half-decent loose powder.
I’m mostly a cheap ass about beauty products, but you can pry my Urban Decay eyeliners and shadows out of my cold, dead hands. Have you tried UD? Are the Lorac ones similar/better?
